Retired Jitu Fauji Trains 25 Youth for Indian Army Free of Cost in Jhunjhunu

Retired from the Indian Army in 2021, Jitendra Singh provides free physical training to rural youth in Jhunjhunu, helping 25 candidates join the armed forces including the Agniveer scheme.

At precisely 4:30 in the morning while darkness still blankets the surroundings, a retired soldier stands fully prepared with his mission on the sports ground in Jhunjhunu. Gradually, village youth begin gathering there, some carrying an unmatched passion for running in their steps while others hold the dream of wearing the military uniform to defend the nation in their eyes. Beginning with warm-ups, this training session draws heavy sweat, strengthens courage, and shapes the resolve of public service. This narrative belongs to Jitendra Singh, known as Jitu Fauji, a veteran of the Indian Army who chose not to settle into a comfortable retired life, instead taking on the mission of preparing rural youth for military recruitment.

Guiding Youth in the Land of Warriors

Known distinctively as a land of brave hearts, the villages and hamlets of Jhunjhunu district have long sent youth into the military to serve the country. Carrying forward this glorious tradition, Jitu Fauji rigorously trains 30 to 40 young aspirants every single morning with complete dedication. The most notable aspect of this noble endeavor is that he does not charge a single rupee in fees from any of the participants. His primary objective remains ensuring that financial hardship never stands as an obstacle in the path of any talented, underprivileged youth aspiring to join the armed forces.

Waking up at four in the morning like Jitu Fauji to sweat it out on the ground isn't something everyone can do. When I visited Jhunjhunu last time, I got to meet many such youngsters preparing for the army with zero resources and pure grit. People like him are doing real service to the nation.

Teaching for free is nice, but how long can this setup last without any real budget?

Arjun Mehta@arjun-mehta·37m ago

Ravikash ji, talking about a budget feels pointless when facing that 4:30 AM dedication in Jhunjhunu.

Jitu Fauji is doing a commendable job, but I doubt morning ground training alone gets everyone selected. Written exams and medical tests outside the field are just as tough, which aren't mentioned here.

Karan, you have a point, but physical is the biggest wall in army rallies; once that's cleared, half the job is done.
