An unexpected political development has unfolded in the Pawota region of Kotputli during the ongoing Pragpura Municipal Corporation elections. Budhram Chaudhary, the official BJP candidate for Ward Number 32, went missing under mysterious circumstances. Even after 48 hours of his disappearance, with police unable to trace him, his electoral rival from the Congress party, Kamlesh Devi, took an extraordinary step. Halting her election campaign completely, Kamlesh Devi along with her husband and son proceeded to the Pragpura police station and sat on a protest demonstration demanding his prompt and safe recovery.
Congress Candidate Halts Campaign to Demand Safe Return
The campaign atmosphere in Ward 32 shifted dramatically when Congress candidate Kamlesh Devi prioritized the missing candidate's safety over election canvassing. Kamlesh Devi stated that while two candidates face each other in an election contest, human safety and wellbeing transcend political competition. She urged the police administration to act swiftly and locate Budhram Chaudhary so he can be reunited safely with his family. Showing solidarity, Congress District President and former MLA Indraj Gurjar also arrived at the Pragpura police station. Indraj Gurjar, along with Kamlesh Devi, Mehar Singh Dhankhar, and other supporters, met senior police officials and submitted a formal memorandum demanding immediate investigation.
Missing Since Afternoon of September 1
The disappearance has left the family of the missing candidate in deep distress. Rahul Chaudhary, son of Budhram Chaudhary and a resident of Bhankhari, filed an official missing person report at the Pragpura police station. According to the complaint, Budhram left his home on the afternoon of 1 September 2026 at around 3 PM and failed to return. Family members conducted extensive searches among relatives, acquaintances, and neighboring villages. Repeated efforts to reach him via his mobile phone proved futile as the device remained switched off, prompting the family to approach the authorities.
Five Dedicated Police Teams Formed for Investigation
The sudden disappearance of a contesting candidate in the middle of municipal elections has placed significant pressure on the local police administration. DSP Umesh Nitharwal confirmed that a missing person case was registered based on the complaint submitted by Rahul of Bhankhari. To track down Budhram Chaudhary, police authorities have constituted five specialized search teams. Investigators are actively scanning footage from CCTV cameras installed along key traffic routes around Pragpura and surrounding areas while utilizing mobile surveillance and technical evidence to gather actionable leads.
