A minor driving dispute on the road turned into an episode of terrifying violence in Rajasthan's capital city of Jaipur, where youths traveling in a black Mahindra Thar unleashed chaos after not being immediately given way. The incident took place near Nangal Pulia under the jurisdiction of the Khora Bisal police station late on Sunday night. The aggressors blocked a commercial cab, pulled out sticks, hockey sticks, and stones, and assaulted the passengers while systematically vandalizing the vehicle. During the half-hour ordeal, one of the assailants also drew a handgun, pointed it directly at an occupant, and struck him on the head, sparking widespread panic on the stretch.
Road Rage Triggered Near Nangal Pulia
The confrontation unfolded around midnight on Sunday when taxi driver Rajat Singh was driving toward Niwaru Road accompanied by his maternal uncle, his cousin, and his nephew. As their cab was crossing the Nangal Pulia overbridge, a black Thar approached rapidly from behind. The driver of the Thar honked persistently and flashed high-beam dipper lights, demanding immediate passage to overtake the cab. Given the narrow alignment and ongoing movement on the overpass, the cab driver was unable to clear the lane instantly. This brief delay reportedly infuriated the occupants of the Thar, setting off an aggressive pursuit.
Interception and Brutal Assault with Sticks and Stones
Moments after clearing the overpass, the Thar accelerated, overtook the cab, and swerved sharply to park diagonally across the road, completely obstructing the path. Before the occupants of the cab could comprehend what was happening, multiple youths exited the Thar and unleashed a barrage of verbal abuse. The confrontation escalated into physical assault within seconds. According to the victims, the attackers were armed with hockey sticks and wooden bats, using them to violently strike the cab occupants.
The violence did not stop at physical beatings. The assailants pelted large stones at the vehicle, smashing its windshield and windows while denting the bodywork. The victims alleged that Yash Singh was struck directly on the head with a stone, resulting in bleeding injuries. The sustained barrage left the family defenseless inside and around their broken car as the assailants continued to wreck the vehicle.
Pistol Drawn and Victim Hit with Butt
The situation escalated further when one of the attackers pulled a handgun from his person. The victims recounted that the armed youth aimed the pistol directly at Pradeep Singh, issuing direct death threats. Furthermore, the attacker used the butt of the firearm to strike Pradeep Singh on the head, inflicting blunt-force trauma. The brazen display and use of a firearm in the middle of a public road in the dead of night intensified the horror for the victims and terrified onlookers.
Half-Hour Commotion Caught on Mobile Camera
The commotion persisted on the road for approximately thirty minutes, during which chaotic scenes played out unchecked. Nearby motorists and local residents were gripped by fear as the youths continued their rampage. Amid the chaos, a bystander managed to capture portions of the altercation using a mobile phone camera. The recorded video, which shows several youths creating a ruckus and vandalizing the vehicle, subsequently went viral on social media platforms, drawing public attention to the brazen lawlessness on the city's streets.
Police Register FIR and Scan CCTV Footage
Following the assault, the perpetrators fled the scene in their vehicle before law enforcement arrived. Upon receiving alerts regarding the violent scuffle, personnel from the Khora Bisal police station reached the spot to take control of the area. Officers recorded the detailed statements of the victims and registered a formal criminal case based on their complaint, incorporating charges of physical assault, rioting, vehicle vandalism, and intimidation involving a firearm.
Investigators are now actively reviewing the viral mobile footage alongside recordings from surveillance cameras installed near Nangal Pulia and adjacent transit corridors to trace the registration number of the Thar and identify the attackers. While the police have not yet confirmed any formal arrests in connection with the incident, senior officials stated that targeted search operations are underway. Authorities emphasized that stringent legal measures will be enforced against everyone implicated in the road rage assault, the destruction of property, and the brandishing of weapons once their identities are established.
