A tragic incident has unfolded at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Jodhpur, where a young resident doctor was found dead inside the hospital premises on Tuesday under distressing circumstances. The deceased medical practitioner has been identified as 31-year-old Dr. Raj Naresh Yadav, hailing from Alwar. He was serving as a first-year resident in the Department of Anaesthesiology. On Tuesday, he was posted on duty in the operation theatre, from where he suddenly went missing mid-shift.
Disappearance From The Operation Theatre Shift
Sharing details regarding the sequence of events, Basni Police Station in-charge Nitin Dave stated that Dr. Raj Naresh was actively performing his scheduled OT duties on Tuesday. Around afternoon, he stepped out of the operative area. However, his failure to return to the surgical suite even after a lapse of nearly one and a half to two hours raised alarm among his colleagues. Growing increasingly anxious, fellow doctors tried reaching him over his mobile phone, but calls went completely unanswered. Prompted by the prolonged silence, the medical staff initiated a search around the facility.
Unresponsive Behind Locked Restroom Doors
The colleagues tracked his presence to the break room situated within the operation theatre complex. Upon inspecting the adjacent restroom, they found the entrance bolted from the inside. Despite persistent knocking and repeated verbal appeals, there was no sign of response from within. Realising the gravity of the situation, the hospital personnel broke open the door.
Inside, Dr. Raj Naresh was discovered lying in an unresponsive state. The attending medical team promptly brought him out and administered CPR alongside intensive emergency resuscitation protocols in an attempt to save his life. Despite their sustained medical efforts, he could not be revived, and the medical team subsequently declared him dead.
Administrative Probe and Autopsy Pending
Following an immediate alert, a team from the Basni Police Station arrived at the spot, secured the area, and transferred the body to the hospital mortuary. Preliminary assessments conducted by the police suggest a case of suicide committed during duty hours. Family members residing in Alwar have been formally notified, and post-mortem procedures will proceed once they reach Jodhpur.
Police Station in-charge Nitin Dave confirmed that investigators have yet to establish the exact underlying reasons or circumstances that drove the young doctor to take this step. Crucial clarity regarding the physiological causes and precise timeline will emerge once the final autopsy report is released. Meanwhile, the administrative authorities at AIIMS are initiating an internal review into the event, though no official public statement has been made by the institution so far.
