The joyous festival of Raksha Bandhan turned into an unimaginable tragedy in the Banswara district of Rajasthan, as a woman returning home after celebrating with her brother lost her life in a severe road accident. The fatal crash took place on Friday evening near Gundi Wali Red on the Ganoor-Ghatol route, roughly two kilometers away from Ganoor, where a speeding car collided head-on with a motorcycle.
Returning Home After the Festival
Motagaon Station House Officer Devilal Meena shared details of the incident, explaining that Rajkunwar, a resident of Salumber, had traveled to Nangwala accompanied by her son Yuvraj Singh. She went there to celebrate the traditional festival of Raksha Bandhan and tie a sacred thread on her brother Laxman Singh's wrist. After completing the rituals, as she prepared to return, her sister-in-law Hina Kunwar also joined them on the motorcycle to travel up to Ganoor.
Violent Head-On Collision With a Car
At approximately 6:30 pm on Friday, near Gundi Wali Red, an out-of-control vehicle coming from the opposite direction rammed directly into their motorcycle. The impact of the crash was so intense that the motorcycle was hurled into the air and landed in a farm roughly 10 feet away from the roadside. Hearing the commotion, passersby rushed to the spot while local authorities were alerted immediately.
Hospitalization and Casualties
Upon receiving information about the mishap, the Motagaon police team arrived at the location without delay. With the assistance of bystanders, the injured were rushed to the nearest medical facility for urgent care. Medical professionals examined Rajkunwar and pronounced her dead, while treatment continued for her son Yuvraj Singh and sister-in-law Hina Kunwar.
Police Investigation and Manhunt for Driver
Following the collision, the driver of the car abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled. Law enforcement officials shifted Rajkunwar's body to the mortuary of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Banswara, where a post-mortem examination is scheduled for Saturday in the presence of grieving family members. A formal case has been registered, and police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the driver who remains at large.
