A special drive has been launched across the Dhanbad district of Jharkhand to curb the sale of adulterated food products. Following clear directives from the health secretary, the quality of paneer and other daily consumable food items is being continuously inspected across the district. In this sequence, a dedicated team of the Food Safety Department carried out sudden surprise raids at several food establishments in the city. This entire operation was executed under the direct guidance and supervision of Civil Surgeon Dr. Alok Vishwakarma, while the team was led by Food Safety Officer Dr. Raja Kumar. During these inspections, essential samples of paneer, ghee, and khoya were collected from multiple shops. All these suspected samples have been dispatched to the State Food Laboratory in Ranchi for chemical analysis to determine the exact nature of adulteration.
Action at Gautam Dairy and Establishment Sealed
During the ongoing inspection drive, when the team raided Gautam Dairy located in the Steel Gate area, chaos ensued. Sensing trouble, the shop owner managed to flee from the spot. During the inspection, officials discovered that the establishment possessed an FSSAI license that had already expired. The raid yielded a total of 48 kilograms of suspicious paneer recovered from inside the premises. Additionally, 2 kilograms of ghee and khoya were also found on-site. Following the recovery of such a large quantity of suspicious food material and the sudden disappearance of the operator, the department took immediate strict action and sealed the dairy on the spot.
Inspections Conducted at Multiple Other Establishments
Expanding the scope of their operation, the joint team of officials also conducted a thorough investigation at राकेश डेयरी located near the Police Line. Approximately 10 kilograms of suspicious paneer was seized from this location. Furthermore, the team inspected roof 709, Nirmal Sweets, and Ramesh Dairy situated in the Saraidhela area. Samples of paneer, ghee, and khoya-based sweets were lifted from all these establishments for testing. Food samples were also collected from Ganga Dairy located in Bartand. During the preliminary spot inspections, any food items that failed to meet quality standards or raised suspicion were immediately confiscated.
Campaign to Continue Across the District
The Food Safety Officer explicitly stated that providing pure, clean, and completely safe food items to the general public remains the primary objective of the department. Keeping this core goal in mind, the special campaign will continue uninterrupted across the entire district. Officials warned that strict legal action will be taken against those selling adulterated items at the cost of public health. Moreover, individuals operating food businesses without a valid license will not be spared, and stringent action will be enforced against them according to the rules. The administration has urged all food traders to strictly comply with regulations while appealing to the general public to report any information regarding the sale of suspicious food items to the relevant department immediately.
