Unique Initiative in Udaipur Panchayat: Lord Eklingnath Placed on Sarpanch Chair

During the assumption of office in Rajasthan's Badi Gram Panchayat, newly elected Sarpanch Khushboo Kunwar set a unique example by placing Lord Eklingnath on her official chair.

Rajasthan's Udaipur district witnessed a deeply devotional and unprecedented scene during the assumption of office in Badi Gram Panchayat. Instead of sitting on the official chair herself, the newly elected Sarpanch placed the revered deity of Mewar, Lord Shri Eklingnath, on the leader's seat. Sarpanch Khushboo Kunwar considers Lord Eklingnath to be the true ruler and king of the panchayat. Through this unique initiative, she expressed her unwavering faith while praying for development, happiness, and prosperity throughout the village.

Historical Victory and Fulfilled Vow

Khushboo Kunwar secured a remarkable and historical victory from Badi Gram Panchayat by winning with a margin of 586 votes. Both Sarpanch Khushboo Kunwar and her husband Ajayveer Singh are ardent devotees of Mewar's patron deity, Lord Eklingnath. They had taken a solemn vow during the election campaign itself, which they fulfilled on Friday, November 6, during the oath-taking and assumption of office ceremony. On this occasion, Sarpanch Khushboo Kunwar enthroned the idol of Lord Shri Eklingnath on her official chair.

Such remarkable displays of faith and devotion have previously caught attention across Rajasthan. Earlier, an unusual offering made by a devotee at the renowned Shri Sawliya Seth Temple located in Mandphiya, Chittorgarh district, became a major topic of discussion. A resident of Jalore underwent a successful heart operation after battling a serious cardiac ailment. During his treatment, he had prayed to Lord Sawliya Seth for recovery and vowed to offer a golden heart if his wish was granted. Once his treatment and surgery proved successful, he fulfilled his vow by presenting a heart model crafted from 21 grams of gold, with an estimated market value exceeding 3 lakh rupees.

Taking divine blessings before stepping onto the field gives a completely different energy. Such genuine faith is rare in politics, and hopefully, the public will truly benefit from it.

Such a display of faith in Mewar is truly unique. Handing over the official chair to the deity while considering oneself a mere servant is quite something. It makes me wonder, though, how practical this arrangement will actually be when it comes to signing official files and making administrative decisions.

Ravikesh ji, you have a point. When I visited Udaipur last year, I saw similar unique beliefs where people dedicate all their success to the Almighty.

Faith is fine, but the people chose her to do the job, not to shift the duty to a deity.

Rohan, you do have a point, but will official documents and signatures also be done in the name of God, or will the Sarpanch actually have to do the work?
