A Miraculous Beginning in a Water Vessel
The origins of this unique shrine date back roughly 29 years, when Santosh Rathore and his wife Sandhya Rathore were performing the traditional Griha Pravesh rituals for their newly constructed home. In the initial days, daily routines proceeded without anything unusual. However, an extraordinary incident soon altered the family's life forever. While Sandhya Rathore was performing regular household chores in the kitchen, her attention was drawn to a container filled with water. Floating inside the vessel was a micro-sized serpent of astonishing proportions.
The serpent was remarkably slender, appearing even thinner than a human hair strand. Overcome with amazement and fear at the sight of this otherworldly manifestation, Sandhya Rathore immediately called her husband Santosh Rathore to inform him of the encounter. Initially, Santosh Rathore found it difficult to accept the reality of the experience. Nevertheless, within a matter of days, he too began experiencing a distinct and persistent sense of a divine presence permeating their home.
Divine Dream and Guidance from Scholars
Sometime after the initial encounter, Sandhya Rathore experienced a vivid nocturnal dream. In this mysterious vision, Nag Devta appeared directly and conveyed that the residence was his designated sacred abode. Deeply affected by this revelation, the Rathore family sought spiritual guidance. They approached learned pandits, religious scholars, and local authorities to interpret the significance of the event.
Upon evaluating the circumstances, the scholars determined that the site was historically linked to the ancient Bhilat Dev of the Nagalwadi region, a sacred presence that had faded from public memory over generations. The scholars informed the family that it was a rare stroke of divine fortune for Baba to manifest in their household. Acting upon this religious counsel, the Rathore family constructed a shrine dedicated to Bhilat Dev in their open courtyard. What began as a private family altar gradually evolved into a major center of faith attracting visitors from surrounding regions.

Santosh Rathore, who oversees the temple rituals, shares that the deity has manifested in various forms over the past nearly three decades. Recalling a particularly striking occurrence, he notes how their daughter once casually remarked that Baba had stopped granting direct visual appearances. At that precise moment, an extraordinary manifestation took place right before them.
The deity appeared as an enormous serpent measuring between 7 to 8 feet in length. Witnessing this awe-inspiring sight firsthand permanently solidified the faith of the Rathore family and the surrounding community. This direct experience further reinforced the belief that divine forces actively protected and watched over the household shrine.
Grand Celebrations and Devotional Beliefs
Every year, the temple in Deendayal Puram hosts a grand Prakat Utsav celebration on the Dooj tithi of the Magh month. The occasion features elaborate worship ceremonies, sacred havan rituals, and grand evening aarti sessions that draw thousands of pilgrims to Khandwa. Additionally, during the festival of Nag Panchami, large crowds gather at the shrine, filling the entire premises with devotional chants and fervor.
