Chitrakoot Prepares For Bhadai Amavasya Fair With 15 Million Expected Despite Recent Floods

Chitrakoot is gearing up for the Bhadai Amavasya fair where over 1.5 million devotees are expected to gather. Authorities have finalized security and cleanup arrangements following recent floods.

The holy city of Chitrakoot is fully prepared to witness a massive influx of devotees on the occasion of Bhadai Amavasya. Millions of worshippers are expected to take a holy dip in the Mandakini River at the revered Ramghat before proceeding to perform parikrama and seek blessings from Kamtanath. Notably, just days prior, the very same Mandakini River had shown a ferocious form, submerging Ramghat and surrounding localities while causing heavy damage in multiple areas. Despite these lingering scars left by the floods, the local administration has successfully wrapped up all preparations for the upcoming Amavasya festival.

Over 1.5 Million Devotees Expected To Attend

According to estimates for the Bhadrapad month Amavasya fair, a large number of pilgrims are expected to arrive from Chitrakoot as well as neighboring regions including Banda, Mahoba, Rath, and Jhansi. Administrative projections indicate that more than 1.5 million devotees could reach Chitrakoot this time. Keeping this massive gathering in mind, comprehensive arrangements have been made for crowd control, traffic management, and security within the fair zone. In light of the Amavasya festival, a special sanitation drive has been carried out in the flood-affected Ramghat and adjacent areas. Debris has been cleared from the ghats and main thoroughfares to facilitate smooth movement for the pilgrims. Furthermore, more than 20 night shelters have been set up to accommodate travelers arriving from distant places. Grand entrance gates have also been erected at various points to welcome the worshippers, and key locations across the fairground have been decorated with attractive lighting.
