A wave of changes has been sweeping through the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya ever since an offering theft controversy rattled the temple's donation system, and the latest move addresses how devotees are given proof of what they give. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has decided that anyone donating online through its official website will now get a digital receipt the moment their payment goes through. The trust says the change is meant to make the entire donation process more trustworthy, more secure and far more convenient, so that every devotee walks away with instant proof of their contribution.
How the revamped online donation process works
The trust has updated the donation section of its website to build in this new feature. Devotees making an online donation will now need to fill in their name, the purpose of the donation, PAN number, date of donation, donation amount, address, state, district, country, pin code, email ID and mobile number. Once this information is submitted and the payment is completed, the system automatically generates a digital receipt on its own, without any manual step from temple staff. Devotees can download that receipt immediately and keep it safely, something that could later prove useful for tax records or any other verification.
A helpline number and email for donation queries
The trust has also published an official mobile number and email address on its website specifically for donation related help. That means a devotee who does not receive a receipt, runs into a payment glitch, or has any other query can now reach out to the trust directly instead of being left without a clear channel to raise the issue, which was the case earlier.
The policy shift followed devotee complaints
The change traces back to the aftermath of the offering theft case at the Ram Mandir, after which a number of devotees complained that they were not getting receipts for their donations on time. The trust took that feedback seriously and rolled out this new digital system in response. The fix is not limited to online donations either. Every devotee who donates offline inside the temple complex will now also be given a receipt as a mandatory rule. The trust believes this will bring more transparency to the donation process and make it far easier to verify donation records whenever the need arises in future.
More than 10 lakh rupees in donations every day
Devotee confidence appears to be recovering since the new system was put in place. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple is currently receiving more than 10 lakh rupees a day in donations through both online and offline channels combined. Large numbers of devotees continue to offer cash into the donation boxes placed across the temple complex, while the figure for online donations through the website keeps climbing as well. That said, the trust has not yet released any official, exact figure for how much donation it collects on a daily basis.
Building trust through transparency and accountability
According to the trust, the digital receipt system will do more than just make life easier for devotees, it will make the entire donation process more transparent and accountable. Every donation will now have a secure record that can be verified easily whenever required. Temple management is treating this initiative as an important step toward strengthening devotee trust, especially coming right after a controversy that had raised questions about how donations were being handled.
