Preparations are in full swing for the grand annual Shakambhari Lakkhi Mela at the historic Shakambhari Shakti Peeth located near Sambhar Lake, set to commence on September 19. Local administrative authorities and civic bodies have intensified their efforts to handle the heavy surge of devotees expected to gather from across North India. Priority is being placed on providing hassle-free darshan, robust security arrangements, and essential amenities for all visiting pilgrims.
Administrative Review and Ground Inspection
To ensure seamless organization throughout the event, Sambhar Lake Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Rishi Raj Kapil convened a comprehensive coordination meeting with officials from various government departments and members of the temple management committee. During the briefing, officials were instructed to formulate advance strategies keeping in mind the anticipated surge in devotee numbers. The SDM directed all concerned agencies to complete their assigned responsibilities well before the start of the religious gathering.
Following the coordination meeting, the SDM personally visited the temple complex and surrounding areas to inspect the ground reality. The inspection focused on evaluating the entry and exit routes, line management systems for darshan, parking facilities, and overall pedestrian movement to prevent bottlenecks during peak hours of the fair.
Drinking Water, Sanitation, and Sun Protection
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and providing basic civic utilities remain top priorities for the administration during the multi-day fair. Instructions have been issued to keep the entire festival ground and adjacent public zones clean through regular sanitization and garbage disposal drives. To meet the drinking water requirements of thousands of visitors, adequate supply arrangements are being set up across key zones.
Additionally, mobile toilets will be installed at strategic positions to accommodate the high footfall. Recognizing the potential hardship caused by heat and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, shade structures are being erected along main pathways and waiting queues. Officials have been mandated to conduct daily field inspections and rectify any logistical gaps immediately upon detection.
Heavy Crowds Expected from Multiple States, Enhanced Security
The Shakambhari Lakkhi Mela is traditionally celebrated every year on the auspicious occasion of Bhadrapada Shukla Ashtami. The pilgrimage draws vast crowds from several districts of Rajasthan, including Ajmer, Bhilwara, Nagaur, and Didwana-Kuchaman, alongside large delegations of devotees arriving from Delhi, Meerut, and various parts of Uttar Pradesh.
In view of the massive turnout expected this year, security measures are being fortified across the venue. Local law enforcement agencies and administrative departments have been asked to maintain close inter-agency coordination to ensure peaceful celebrations, effective crowd control, and smooth traffic management throughout the duration of the event.
