Every Tuesday that falls in the month of Sawan is considered particularly significant for devotees, and temples see a noticeable rise in footfall from people worshipping Hanuman on this day. Traditional belief holds that a handful of simple remedies practised on this day can resolve several long-pending problems in a person's life.
Why Tuesday holds special significance during Sawan
On every Tuesday of Sawan, married women observe the Mangla Gauri fast and worship Goddess Gauri with proper rituals. It is believed that this fast brings lasting marital fortune and keeps sweetness alive in married life. The same day is also considered highly favourable for people struggling with Mangal Dosha, an affliction of Mars in their birth chart. According to astrology, Tuesday is linked both to the planet Mars and to Hanuman, so observing a fast and worshipping Hanuman on this day is believed to reduce the inauspicious effects of Mars. Beyond this, a set of simple remedies described below is believed to bring prosperity and offer relief from various troubles.
Remedies for unfulfilled wishes and prosperity
If a particular wish has remained unfulfilled for a long time despite persistent effort, one should bathe on Tuesday, take vermillion in a bowl, mix in a little jasmine oil, and offer it to Hanuman. This remedy is said to be highly effective for fulfilling long-pending desires.
To keep an atmosphere of auspiciousness and happiness in the household, bring two toy elephants on Tuesday, wash them with clean water, place them in the household worship area, and light a lamp in front of them. Alongside this, one should pray for happiness to remain in the family.
Remedies to boost respect, influence and the power of speech
Those who want to establish their dominance and influence among others should bathe on Tuesday, sit in front of a picture of Hanuman, and chant the mantra 'Om Hang Hanumate Namah' 21 times.
Those who feel their words carry little impact on others, or who want their writing to make a mark, should offer boiled whole moong dal with its skin intact as an offering to Goddess Durga on Tuesday.
Remedies to build trust in married life
To win a spouse's trust, take a betel leaf on Tuesday and wash it with clean water. Wipe it well, place a little jaggery and some black gram on it, offer it at Hanuman's feet, pray, and return home.
To find relief from the constant confusion and tension that troubles married life, tie a fistful of masoor dal (red lentils) in a red cloth on Tuesday and offer it at a Hanuman temple.
Remedies for outside troubles and safety
If persistent conflict or trouble in the family is being caused by the interference of an outsider, visit a Hanuman temple on Tuesday, bring back a little vermillion from near Hanuman's feet, and use it to draw a swastik symbol on both sides of the main entrance of the house. This is believed to remove outside obstacles.
Those worried about the safety of their vehicle or their own personal safety should chant the mantra 'Hang Hanumate Rudratmakaya Hum Phat Swaha' 11 times on Tuesday. This is considered a remedy against accidents and dangers.
Remedies for career growth and unknown fears
If progress in one's career keeps hitting repeated obstacles, one should respectfully gift a chocolate-coloured cloth to a tailor, or to an elder brother, on Tuesday.
If one keeps experiencing unexplained fear or is troubled by the apprehension of unknown dangers, one should bathe on Tuesday, sit in front of a picture of Hanuman, and recite the Hanuman Chalisa seven times.
Those who remain surrounded by a fear of some misfortune should take roti made of wheat and barley flour on Tuesday, go towards the south-west direction of their house, and give it to a labourer. This remedy is believed to remove fear from the mind.
According to astrological tradition, all these remedies can be observed with faith and discipline on every Tuesday of Sawan. However, their effect is also said to depend on a person's devotion and consistency in following them.
