Following the creation of the universe, Lord Brahma resolved to perform a grand Yajna on Earth aimed at universal welfare and the good of all living beings. However, conducting such a massive ritual required finding a location that was spiritually pure and entirely suited for such a sacred task. Lord Brahma grew deeply concerned about identifying the most ideal spot on Earth that could match the sanctity of the proposed Yajna.
The Celestial Voice and the Release of the Lotus
As Lord Brahma contemplated the choice of a suitable location, a divine celestial voice, known as Akashvani, resonated through the skies. The heavenly message provided a clear sign to guide him through his concern. Brahma was instructed to toss the lotus flower resting in his hand upward toward the sky. According to the divine prophecy, whichever spot on Earth the lotus landed upon would be designated as the most sacred and suitable site for the holy Yajna. Accepting the divine guidance, Lord Brahma released the lotus into the air.
Creation of the Three Holy Regions
The miraculous lotus flower dropped from the sky descended to Earth, touching down at three distinct locations. Legend has it that the first spot where the lotus landed came to be known as Budha Pushkar. The flower then touched a second location, which led to the creation of Madhya Pushkar. Finally, the third spot where the lotus settled became Brahma Pushkar. In this manner, a single divine lotus gave birth to all three sacred regions of Pushkar, cementing their place in religious lore.
