Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has inaugurated multiple high-tech facilities designed to merge ancient spirituality with modern convenience at the famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara. From virtual reality setups to expanded insurance covers, these initiatives represent a significant modernization drive by the temple administration.
Virtual Reality Experience and AI Crowd Management
A major highlight of this technological leap is the newly established Pilgrim Experience Center, located at the Vaikuntham Queue Complex-1 in Tirumala. This center utilizes cutting-edge 3D technology to offer devotees a realistic virtual tour of the sacred hill town and its iconic landmarks. Through six DVR-based virtual reality systems, pilgrims can experience the daily rituals, sacred pujas, and traditional ceremonies that are normally performed deep inside the sanctum sanctorum. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu personally experienced this virtual darshan facility during his visit, highlighting how digital tools can make divine experiences accessible to everyone. To manage the massive influx of visitors, the TTD is heavily integrating modern technology into its operations. The administration has set up an AI-powered Integrated Command and Control Center, which serves as the nervous system for managing crowd dynamics, monitoring security, and resolving pilgrim grievances in real time, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free spiritual journey.
The Renovated Sri Venkateswara Museum
In another major step to preserve and showcase the rich heritage of the shrine, the Chief Minister inaugurated the newly renovated Sri Venkateswara Museum, also known as the SV Museum. This state-of-the-art facility has been completely redesigned to present the deep history, sacred traditions, and vibrant culture associated with Lord Venkateswara. Built at an impressive cost of 104 crore INR, the project was entirely funded and executed by the TCS Trust. Inside the museum, visitors can admire highly detailed replicas of the precious jewelry and historical ornaments offered to the deity by historic rulers, including the legendary Emperor Sri Krishnadevaraya. The museum also features intricate 3D digital models of sacred crowns and antique jewelry. During his walkthrough, Naidu watched an AI-driven presentation of the celestial wedding of Lord Venkateswara on a panoramic screen. He also spent time examining ancient musical instruments used in traditional devotional services, praising how the museum uses sculptures and historic artifacts to beautifully illustrate the grandeur of ancient temple architecture.
Green Mobility and Environmental Conservation
Tirumala is globally renowned not just for its spiritual energy but also for its pristine natural beauty, boasting an impressive 89.5 percent forest and green cover. Emphasizing the urgent need to protect this delicate mountain ecosystem from vehicular pollution, Chief Minister Naidu flagged off a fleet of 32 brand-new electric buses from the Narayanagiri Circle. This initiative is part of TTD’s broader commitment to transition toward zero-emission mobility on the hills. Following the flag-off ceremony, Naidu took a ride in one of the electric buses alongside Nitin Seth, the CEO of Reliance E-Mobility, Suchitra Ella, the MD of Bharat Biotech, and TTD Chairman BR Naidu. By replacing conventional fuel vehicles with electric alternatives, the temple administration aims to significantly curb carbon emissions, creating a cleaner, healthier, and quieter environment for pilgrims without compromising on modern transport facilities.
Aadhaar-Linked Insurance Cover for Pilgrims
In a historic move to ensure the financial security of visiting devotees, the Andhra Pradesh government and TTD have introduced a comprehensive life insurance scheme in collaboration with LIC. This online, hassle-free system is entirely integrated with Aadhaar verification to ensure swift processing. Under this newly approved policy, if a pilgrim passes away due to natural causes during their pilgrimage in Tirumala, their grieving family will receive a payout of 2 lakh INR. Furthermore, the TTD board has approved a substantial hike in the accidental death insurance payout, raising it from the previous limit of 3 lakh INR to an impressive 10 lakh INR. Highlighting the administration's devotee-first approach, Chief Minister Naidu stated, "Every devotee visiting Tirumala should feel secure and have the best experience." This pioneering social security initiative is the first of its kind in the history of the temple’s administration.
Global Temple Expansion and Community Service
Looking ahead, the state government has outlined an ambitious roadmap to spread the spiritual reach of Lord Venkateswara far and wide. Through the Srivani Trust, the administration is planning to construct 5,000 new Sri Venkateswara temples across different parts of Andhra Pradesh. The appeal of the deity extends beyond national borders, with the government actively evaluating official proposals to construct temples in foreign nations, including Mauritius and New Zealand. Additionally, the roles and responsibilities of the Srivari Sevakulu, the dedicated volunteer force of the temple, are being greatly expanded. These volunteers will now offer their services in the crucial sectors of education and healthcare.
