When the exams were held
As per the revised schedule, the Group I examinations for the May 2026 session were held on May 5, 7 and 9. The Group II examinations took place on May 11, 13 and 15. All papers ran from 2 pm to 5 pm. The pattern carried 30 marks for multiple-choice questions and 70 marks for descriptive-type questions.
What the January 2026 session tells us
For those awaiting the May outcome, the January 2026 session offers a useful reference point. In that cycle, the Group I examinations were conducted on January 6, 8 and 10, while the Group II papers were held on January 12, 15 and 17. The results were announced on March 8, roughly two months after the exams concluded.
How the pass rates looked in January
The January attempt produced modest pass percentages across the board. In Group I, 14,733 candidates qualified out of the 1,05,526 who appeared, putting the pass percentage at 13.96 per cent. In Group II, 10,798 candidates cleared the examination out of 69,477, taking the pass percentage to 15.54 per cent.
