One of the oldest and most revered historic shrines in the region, the Mata Puran Devi Temple, has updated its rate schedule for hosting auspicious ceremonies and religious rites. Located approximately 500 meters from City Kalibari in Purnea city, this shrine holds profound historical significance, as the name of Purnea district itself is derived from this sacred place. Devotees visit this revered site with the enduring belief that every prayer offered before the deity gets fulfilled. Beginning this new year, citizens organizing family ceremonies, rituals, or vehicle blessings on the temple grounds must adhere to a revised structure of official fees set by the authorities.
Revised Rate Structure for Auspicious Ceremonies and Rites
Devotees planning significant family milestones such as weddings, sacred thread rituals (upanayan), tonsure ceremonies (mundan), or the blessing of new vehicles at the Mata Puran Devi Temple must take note of the newly introduced fee schedule. The temple management has revised charges covering various activities, ranging from marriage rituals and sanitation maintenance to dharamshala bookings, animal sacrifice (bali pradan), and pujas for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers. Visitors seeking to conduct their auspicious ceremonies within the premises are now required to pay the officially established fees to ensure smooth operations.
Detailed Breakdown of Specific Ritual and Facility Charges
Sharing the comprehensive details of the updated fee structure, temple committee member Subodh Pandit explained that specific amounts have been demarcated for various sacred ceremonies and logistical arrangements. Under the updated norms, the wedding fee has been fixed at 1100 rupees for the groom's side, while the bride's side is required to contribute 501 rupees. To support proper sanitation across the venue during and after wedding ceremonies, a separate cleaning fee of 551 rupees has been mandated for the groom's party, alongside an equal 551 rupees for the bride's party.
Specific Charges for Vehicle Pujas, Sanskars, and Guest Facilities
Clear rates have also been laid down for devotees seeking ceremonial blessings for their vehicles. The ritual fee for a four-wheeled vehicle stands at 251 rupees, while two-wheelers and three-wheelers are charged at 151 rupees, alongside an assigned post-vehicle puja fee of 551 rupees. For traditional childhood and coming-of-age rites, both upanayan and mundan ceremonies have been priced at 251 rupees, whereas the fee for offering bali pradan is set at 101 rupees. To facilitate larger wedding gatherings and overnight stays, the Vivah Bhavan facility can be booked for 5001 rupees, while the large dharamshala is available for 3500 rupees and the smaller dharamshala for 2500 rupees. Following these specified contributions, families can smoothly organize their religious and family events at the historic site.
