Software validation and testing platform Blacksmith announced Wednesday that it has secured a $66 million Series C funding round led by Sequoia, bringing its valuation to $1 billion and cementing its status as a unicorn.
Simplifying Code Validation in the AI Era
Announcing the funding round, Blacksmith co-founder and CEO Aditya Jayaprakash stated that the enterprise was originally established to make continuous integration, which involves building, testing, merging, and validating code changes, less painful. He shared these insights in a post on X.
In a blog post, Aditya Jayaprakash noted that most organizations are struggling to keep pace with the volume of continuous integration they need to execute, particularly at a time when a massive share of code is generated by artificial intelligence. As autonomous agents write more software globally, the critical question remains whether that generated code can be trusted.
Surging Revenue and Rapid Growth
Alongside the funding news, the enterprise disclosed that its annual recurring revenue has expanded 17x while processing over 90 million continuous integration jobs, defined as individual automated code checks. Notable clients utilizing the platform include Mercury and Granola. Further details were published on the official Blacksmith blog.
This Series C milestone arrives merely two months after a $45 million Series B round that valued the startup at $550 million. Just a year prior, Blacksmith held a valuation of $60 million following a $10 million Series A round. To date, the company has successfully raised $125 million in total funding.
