A Palm-Oil-Free Peanut Butter Idea Turned a Kota Youngster's 30,000 Rupees Into a Crore-Worth Brand

Sometimes a single idea, backed by the stubbornness to stick with it, can rewrite a person's entire story. That is exactly what happened with Chidatman Jain, a young entrepreneur from Kota in Rajasthan. The small startup he launched with a capital of just 30,000 rupees has today grown into a business with an annual turnover of 2 crore rupees. His brand, Maska, has not only carved out a place in the market but has also given dignified employment to 21 local women, changing the lives of several families along the way.

The story really began in Mumbai. While living there, Chidatman found himself drawn towards health and nutrition. Watching the rising awareness around fitness and a healthier lifestyle across the country, he started studying the peanut butter market closely. As he examined the products of various big brands available in India, one thing stood out clearly: most companies were freely using palm oil in their peanut butter. It struck him that if someone is buying peanut butter for the sake of their health, they deserve a purer, more natural and better quality option.

Research and a 30,000 Rupee Foundation

That realisation planted the seed of a new business. Chidatman spent several months doing ground-level market research and understanding what consumers actually wanted. He then set out to create a completely pure peanut butter with no palm oil at all. Taking just 30,000 rupees from his old savings, he set up a small manufacturing unit in Kota and began production. The early days were anything but smooth. In the first year, the company's total revenue reached only 2.5 lakh rupees, yet he refused to give up and kept his focus firmly on product quality.

A Leap to 2 Crore in the Second Year

His relentless effort and growing customer trust paid off in the very second year, when the company's turnover jumped straight to 2 crore rupees. Today the Maska brand offers not just peanut butter but almond butter, chocolate butter and a range of healthy spreads. All of these are made with natural ingredients such as premium roasted peanuts, rock salt and organic jaggery in place of sugar, so that taste comes with full nourishment for the body.

A Direct Gain for Local Farmers and Women

Chidatman points out that the Hadoti region of Rajasthan grows good quality peanuts in abundance. He believes that through value addition, local farmers' produce can be given access to a better market. With that thinking, he tied local resources to modern technology and innovation to build a strong business model.

Today, 21 women work diligently at his unit and are moving steadily towards financial independence. Chidatman says that to succeed in any field, the first step is to develop a genuine interest in the work. Once that interest turns into passion and hard work is added to it, success finds its own way to you. A journey that began with 30,000 rupees and reached the 2 crore mark proves that building a big business takes not big capital but a big vision.

What this means for you

  • Across India: Health-conscious buyers now have a peanut butter option made without palm oil, using organic jaggery and premium peanuts instead.
  • In Kota (Rajasthan): Hadoti's peanut farmers get a better market and 21 local women have gained jobs, lifting the income of several families.

Inspiration & Lessons

  • Spot the gap in a problem: Chidatman noticed that big brands relied on palm oil and turned that gap into a business by offering a pure alternative.
  • Don't fear a small start: A capital of just 30,000 rupees can grow into a crore-worth business, as long as the vision is big.
  • Don't quit after the first setback: Even with only 2.5 lakh rupees of revenue in the first year, he kept his focus on quality.
  • Make local your strength: By tapping Hadoti's peanuts and local women, he built a strong model rooted in his own region.
  • Turn interest into passion: Deep interest in the work, then passion plus hard work, was his formula for success.
