In Madhya Pradesh's Burhanpur district, Hussain Uddin from the Killa area has built a business without a job or big capital behind him. Three years ago he started a poultry farming venture with just six birds and an investment of ₹5000. Today he owns 80 to 100 fighter breed chickens, which he buys and sells, along with the eggs they lay. The business now earns him ₹20,000 to ₹25,000 every month.
A Social Media Idea and a ₹5000 Loan From a Relative
Hussain Uddin says he had no work to do earlier. That is when he came across the idea of a poultry farming business on social media. He started at home with just five hens and one rooster. To fund it, he borrowed ₹5000 from his relatives. The beginning was rough, three of the hens died early on. Only two hens and one rooster survived, but from that small flock the numbers eventually grew to 80 birds.
Fighter Breed Chickens in High Demand
Hussain Uddin now raises fighter breed chickens, priced between ₹2000 and ₹3000 each. He says people are especially fond of the fighter breed, and buyers travel from far to purchase birds from him, which brings him good earnings. His success has also drawn other people to him, who now come seeking training in poultry farming.
Earning ₹20,000 to ₹25,000 a Month
According to Hussain Uddin, he now earns between ₹20,000 and ₹25,000 every month. He has built two separate rooms to house and care for the birds. He keeps them there, feeds and waters them on schedule, and lets them out in the open every morning. Both desi and fighter breed hens lay eggs, which also hatch into chicks. He sells these eggs as well, adding further to his income.
