Keshavram Pidda, serving as a Senior Agriculture Development Officer (SADO) in the Balod district of Chhattisgarh, stands today as a beacon of inspiration for farmers and youth alike. Once a young boy who worked in a beedi factory just to fund his education, Keshavram now holds a senior position in the agriculture department, dedicated to linking farmers with modern farming techniques and government welfare schemes.
Early Struggles and Determination
Originally from the village of Jaisakarra in the Charama tehsil of Kanker district, Keshavram grew up in a modest farming family. His path to education was fraught with challenges. To support himself and his family, he spent his youth working in a local beedi manufacturing unit. While beedi rolling was the primary source of livelihood for his family at the time, Keshavram had a broader vision for his future. He remained determined not to remain tethered to the same work for his entire life. Instead, he dedicated himself to his studies, prepared diligently for government examinations, and ultimately climbed the ladder to his current position.
Career Milestones and Progression
His professional journey into government service began in 1999. In 1997, when the recruitment for Rural Agriculture Extension Officers was announced, he applied for the post. Following a successful interview in 1998 and achieving a place in the merit list, he was appointed as a Rural Agriculture Extension Officer on February 23, 1999, receiving his first posting in Kanker district. After working for approximately eight years in remote areas, he decided to further his academic qualifications. With official permission, he completed his graduation in agriculture.
His career saw a significant breakthrough in 2014 when he was promoted to the position of Agriculture Development Officer and posted in Balod district. Entrusted with the responsibility of the Piperchedi area, he worked tirelessly at the grassroots level to ensure the effective implementation of various agricultural schemes. Recognizing his outstanding commitment and service, he received another promotion in 2022, becoming the Senior Agriculture Development Officer (SADO) for the Balod development block.
Empowering the Farming Community
For the past four years, Keshavram has been managing agricultural operations across 89 villages within the Balod block. Under his guidance, approximately 50 villages have made significant shifts toward crop diversification. Farmers in these areas are now not only cultivating paddy during the Kharif season but are also maximizing their income by growing chickpeas, wheat, peas, mustard, and sugarcane during the Rabi season. He continues to educate farmers on new agricultural technologies and government schemes, striving to boost their overall income. Keshavram Pidda's journey offers a powerful message to the younger generation: difficult circumstances are not obstacles to success, but rather the very catalysts that can inspire one to move forward.
