In Karnal, Haryana, an enterprising family has successfully transformed their traditional culinary expertise into a thriving commercial venture. Led by an entrepreneur named Sushant, the family began manufacturing naturally prepared edible products alongside his father and brother approximately 6 months ago. Their enterprise focuses on delivering clean, adulteration-free food items that provide consumers with authentic flavors and notable health advantages.
Chemical-Free Food Processing and Innovative Product Lines
Commercial pickles and preserves available across conventional retail spaces frequently suffer from low variety and extensive adulteration. Addressing this gap, Sushant and his family chose a strictly natural preparation approach free of artificial substances, ensuring that their products actively support consumer wellness. Their portfolio stands out by introducing highly unconventional recipes rarely seen in standard grocery aisles, including sapodilla pickle, papad crafted directly from guava, and nutritious laddoos made with a blend of gooseberry and cardamom.
Inspiration Drawn from the International Year of Millets
The foundation of this agro-business traces back to Sushant participating in the international millet year last year. That experience highlighted the nutritional value and growing demand for indigenous crops and wholesome foods, prompting him to propose a family-run business model. His father and brother immediately backed the proposition, leading to the joint establishment of their parent label, Pooshaa Agro Products, to bring these health-conscious items to the public.
Structured Operations Through Dual Verticals and Strong Returns
To cater to distinct consumer appetites while maintaining operational clarity, the family divided Pooshaa Agro Products into two specialized verticals. The first division, named Millet Wagon, is dedicated to processing wholesome snacks, manufacturing nutritious biscuits, chips, and related items. The second division operates under the name Fruity Affairs, focusing on fruit-based preparations including chutneys, preserves, and an assortment of unique pickles. Sushant stated that after accounting for all manufacturing and operating expenses, the business generates a net monthly surplus ranging between 35,000 and 40,000 rupees during its initial operational phase, supported by widespread customer appreciation.
