The 70th BPSC results were announced on June 20, and among those who came through was Sachin, a resident of Khaira block in Jamui district. He secured rank 104, earning the post of SDM. Speaking to TrendKia, Sachin shared the story behind this result and made clear it was anything but a smooth ride.
Two Failed Starts Before the First Real Breakthrough
In his first two attempts, Sachin could not get past the BPSC preliminary exam. He did not quit. His third attempt brought a genuine breakthrough: he cleared the exam and received the post of Revenue Officer, with his posting fixed at Bakhri in Begusarai district. It was while serving in that role that he appeared for the exam a fourth time and came out with a far better result, earning the SDM appointment.
Three Government Jobs Left Behind in Pursuit of Civil Services
Sachin's determination came with real sacrifices. Before his BPSC runs, he had already been selected for three different government posts, one of which was the position of Loco Pilot. He walked away from all three. The pull of civil services was stronger than the security of a settled government job, and he refused to let any of those positions become his final destination.
A Pointed Interview Question That Caught Him Off Guard
Sachin told TrendKia that one question in the BPSC interview stopped him cold. Because he was a serving Revenue Officer at the time, the interviewer asked him directly: why is the Anchal office described as the paradise of corruption?
He chose honesty over a polished but hollow answer. He told the panel that he had been in the post for only six months and was still going through his training, which meant he genuinely had no knowledge of the matter. That plain, candid admission worked in his favour and helped him clear the interview to become SDM.
UPSC Is the Next Goal, With Tina Dabi as Inspiration
Becoming an SDM has not satisfied Sachin's ambitions. He said he wants to clear the UPSC exam next and pointed to the success of Tina Dabi as the source of inspiration pushing him toward that goal.
