Shivani Mishra, a resilient young woman hailing from a small village in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur district, has redefined the meaning of determination. After a long and gruelling five-year-long journey filled with financial hardships and repeated academic disappointments, she has achieved a phenomenal milestone. Shivani has successfully cleared both the Madhya Pradesh Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) exam for 2026 and the Uttar Pradesh Police Sub-Inspector (SI) exam for 2025, securing two prestigious government jobs at the exact same time.
Growing Up in the Midst of Severe Adversities
Shivani's journey began in Madwa, a remote village situated in the Lavkush Nagar tehsil of Chhatarpur district. Her family’s economic situation was extremely fragile. Her father, Dayashankar, worked tirelessly as a daily-wage laborer in local stone quarries to sustain a massive household, while her mother managed the home. Shivani is the eldest among eight siblings, including six sisters and two younger brothers, which meant that she felt an immense responsibility to uplift her family from poverty. Education was not easily accessible in her village, where school facilities only extended up to the fifth grade. Furthermore, her local gram panchayat did not have any high school facilities beyond the tenth grade. Realizing her daughter's immense passion for learning, her mother made the difficult choice to send Shivani to live with her maternal aunt in another town so she could complete her education.
Her deep-seated motivation to enter law enforcement was born out of local hardships. Shivani grew up witnessing frequent physical disputes and conflicts within her village. A turning point occurred when a theft took place in her own home. Although the family knew exactly who the culprit was, they were forced to remain silent out of sheer fear of retaliation. This painful experience of helplessness planted a seed of determination in Shivani's heart to wear the police uniform and stand up for those who cannot defend themselves.
A Challenging Trial of Repeated Failures
The road to securing a government position was paved with numerous heartbreaks for Shivani. She began appearing for various competitive exams with the hope of stabilizing her family's financial condition. In 2021, she attempted the MP Police Constable exam but failed to make the cut. She then prepared for the Delhi Police Constable recruitment; although she successfully cleared the written examination, she was unfortunately disqualified during the physical running test. In 2023, she faced another crushing blow during the UP Police Constable physical trial, where she was eliminated for missing the target time by just 13 seconds. Shivani also took the UP Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) exam, but her name was left off the final merit list by a tiny margin of 0.2 marks. She also appeared for the MP Forest Constable exam and several other one-day tests, experiencing rejection at every turn. Despite these successive failures, she refused to let go of her dreams.
Turning Dreams Into Reality
Her unwavering patience and persistent efforts eventually paid off when the results of her latest attempts were announced. Shivani had appeared for the UP Police Sub-Inspector Exam 2025 and the MP Police Assistant Sub-Inspector Exam 2026. This time, her hard work bore fruit as her name appeared in the final selection lists of both examinations. Reflecting on this dual success, Shivani mentioned that the news felt absolutely surreal, like a dream she was still waking up to. Having achieved her immediate goal, she is already planning her next move. Shivani has set her sights on administrative services and intends to start preparing for the Uttar Pradesh Provincial Civil Services (UP PCS) exam in the near future.
