Efforts to integrate artificial intelligence directly into daily routines have taken a significant step forward. At India Mobile Congress 2026, Jio showcased an innovative range of personal AI wearables designed to streamline everyday interactions. The newly unveiled lineup features smart camera glasses, audio glasses, and earphones, all engineered to reduce dependence on physical smartphone screens for basic digital tasks.
Hands-Free QR Code Scanning and UPI Payments
Among the showcased capabilities, the camera-equipped smart glasses introduce a dedicated Scan and Pay functionality. When standing before a merchant billing counter, the eyewear's built-in camera scans the UPI QR code in front of the wearer. The user confirms the transaction using voice commands, and the payment is processed seamlessly without requiring them to pull a phone from their pocket, unlock the device, or launch a banking application.
This payment mechanism operates in accordance with UPI Circle guidelines. Under these rules, single transactions are capped at 5,000 rupees, while the monthly cumulative limit stands at 15,000 rupees. This integration transforms the traditional multi-step checkout routine into a fast, voice-directed interaction.
Multi-Language Live Translation and Voice Assistant
A core focus of the wearable line is deep integration with Indian languages. The devices incorporate multi-Indian language support and real-time live translation capabilities. This allows two individuals speaking different regional dialects to converse smoothly, with the built-in AI processing and translating speech on the fly so each participant understands the other in their preferred language.
Complementing the translation engine is an integrated AI voice assistant. The goal is to move artificial intelligence beyond keyboard inputs and mobile displays, allowing users to issue hands-free commands and manage digital tasks strictly through natural voice interactions.
Smart Note-Taking and Live Sports Updates
Beyond transactional and linguistic tools, the eyewear addresses productivity and entertainment needs. An automated AI note-taking feature helps users capture vital meeting discussions without manual transcription. For sports enthusiasts on the move, the glasses connect with audio peripherals to deliver live cricket commentary directly to the user.
By blending voice computing, regional language processing, meeting assistance, and direct UPI integration, these personal AI wearables aim to make digital services more accessible and practical for everyday users across India.
