Grand Slam Reunion at Flushing Meadows
The last instance of Serena Williams and Venus Williams competing together as a pairing at a major was during the 2022 US Open, which served as Serena's farewell tournament before she evolved away from competitive tennis. During that event, the 44-year-old suffered a 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3 defeat against Australia's Maya Joint and sustained a knee injury that ultimately forced her withdrawal from the women's doubles event, where she was scheduled to partner Venus.
Meanwhile, 46-year-old Venus Williams has continued to participate sporadically in both singles and doubles events on the WTA Tour in recent seasons. The pairing will officially launch their US Open campaign on either Thursday, 3 September or Friday, 4 September.
