A celebratory car delivery on the auspicious occasion of Ayudha Puja turned into a disaster in the town of Sagar within Karnataka's Shivamogga district when a newly purchased vehicle suddenly spun out of control right outside the dealership. The customer had just completed the traditional worship rituals and taken formal handover of the brand new Maruti car from the showroom staff, but as soon as the vehicle was steered toward the exit, the driver completely lost control. Gaining sudden speed, the car smashed directly through the security barricades placed outside the establishment and hurtled onto the main roadway, where a motorcycle happened to be passing by. The runaway vehicle struck the two-wheeler with tremendous force, flinging the riders onto the asphalt and leaving both of them severely injured. The entire frightening sequence was recorded clearly by a nearby CCTV camera, and the resulting footage has since circulated widely.
ICU Treatment for Victims and Police Investigation
The impact of the collision was so severe that the motorcycle was reduced to mangled wreckage and completely destroyed. Bystanders and showroom employees rushed immediately to aid the fallen riders, promptly transporting them to a nearby medical facility for urgent care. According to available reports, both injured individuals are currently undergoing critical medical treatment inside the intensive care unit of the hospital. Following the incident, local law enforcement authorities registered a formal case and initiated a thorough probe into the circumstances. Such showroom exit incidents have sparked renewed concerns regarding safety protocols during vehicle deliveries, given the typical presence of crowds and heavy traffic immediately outside commercial automotive outlets.
Intentional Car Rampage Incident in Bhubaneswar
In a similarly alarming separate incident reported from Odisha's capital city, an early morning event along the Cuttack-Puri bypass in Bhubaneswar on October 12 initially appeared to be a routine traffic mishap before turning out to be a deliberate attempt to run down pedestrians. The accused driver, Soumya Ranjan Rath, was apprehended by police and produced before a court after driving his Tata Nexon into crowds in the Keshura locality. According to police filings, complainant Ratikant Singh and his wife Annapurna Singh were traveling toward Hanspal on a motorcycle around 7:30 AM on October 12 when the vehicle struck a pedestrian near SR Valley Square on the Puri bypass before speeding away toward Keshura Square.
Wrong-Way Retaliation and Multiple Vehicle Damage
After the initial collision, while Ratikant Singh, his wife, and other bystanders were arranging to send the injured pedestrian to a hospital, the exact same car returned from the direction of Keshura traveling at high speed on the wrong side of the road, intentionally plowing into the gathered crowd. This secondary rampage left three people injured and a total of seven motorcycles heavily damaged. All the injured victims were rushed for medical treatment to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. Surveillance cameras captured this horrifying episode as well, aiding authorities in building a strong legal case against the perpetrator.
