A small settlement in Jharkhand's Bokaro district has become the talk of the region these days, all because of a cement helicopter standing on the roof of a house. Built in Jharna Basti of the Chandrapura block, this home has its photos and videos spreading fast across social media. People from nearby villages and towns are now turning up just to see the unusual sight for themselves and to click selfies with it.
The man behind this eye-catching craftsmanship is the homeowner, Jamuna Prasad Mahto, and it grew out of a childhood dream. He says aircraft and helicopters have fascinated him since he was a boy. To turn that fascination into reality, and to give his house an identity unlike any other, he had this helicopter raised on the rooftop.
A decision made back in 2022
It was in 2022, while his house was still under construction, that he made up his mind to build a helicopter on the roof. Putting it together cost around 50 thousand rupees, and it measures roughly 12 feet in length. Made entirely of cement, the model even has fine details like rotor blades and tyres carved into it, which is why from a distance it looks just like a real helicopter.
From hesitation to local pride
At first, the idea seemed a bit odd to his family members. But soon every one of them stood by his dream and supported him at each step. Today, that very helicopter has become the identity of the entire area.
Crowds arriving from towns and villages
Local resident Roshan Mahto says the house has been going viral on social media for some time now, with people coming in from surrounding villages and towns. Many are taking photos and selfies with the helicopter rooftop and posting them online. According to him, the house itself has been built beautifully. All in all, this unique experiment carried out in a Bokaro home is on everyone's lips today.
