Tripura has taken a major step toward upgrading its transport and tourism networks by introducing app-based cab services alongside a dedicated Tourism Information Centre at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport.
Digital expansion across major transit hubs
Tourism and Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury officially inaugurated these facilities at the MBB Airport premises. Agartala and Jogendranagar railway stations were linked virtually to the launch event, ensuring the simultaneous rollout of app-based transportation at the state's primary aviation and rail terminals.
Enhancing passenger convenience and fair transparency
The primary goal of this initiative is to make commuting safer, more accessible, and convenient for both local passengers and incoming tourists. The newly introduced mobile application allows travellers landing at transit hubs to book cabs directly via their smartphones, cutting down reliance on conventional transport modes and significantly reducing fare disputes.
Guiding visitors through the Tourism Information Centre
The newly established Tourism Information Centre is designed to assist visitors by providing comprehensive details regarding local attractions, regional destinations, and available accommodation. This support system aims to elevate the overall travel experience for everyone exploring the state.
Modernising transport in line with public demand
Chowdhury stated that the state administration intends to systematically modernise Tripura's entire transit framework, keeping pace with contemporary developments nationwide and responding directly to public needs. Emphasizing the core pillars of hospitality, connectivity, lodging, and food services, he noted that positive visitor experiences would encourage repeat visits and elevate the region's profile nationally and internationally.
Leveraging technology for a tourist-friendly future
The minister concluded that these enhancements will not only improve daily commuter convenience but also energise the tourism economy by drawing a broader audience from across the country and abroad. The government remains fully dedicated to utilizing digital technology to revamp transport operations, generate fresh tourism attractions, and position Tripura as a safe, modern, and welcoming destination.
