A joint team comprising the Konch police station personnel, the SOG, and the surveillance unit successfully cornered and apprehended three individuals allegedly involved in a brutal robbery at the residence of a retired railway employee and his wife. The primary incident had left the elderly couple bound inside their home while the perpetrators made off with valuables worth lakhs of rupees, triggering an intensive manhunt across the region.
Encounter Breaks Out After Tip-Off, Suspect Injured
Acting on specific intelligence received through a confidential informant, the police units learned that several suspects were traveling in an e-rickshaw while carrying illegal firearms. Armed with this input, the police set up a strategic blockade to intercept the vehicle and verify the occupants. Sensing imminent capture, the suspects opened fire on the approaching police team, discharging two rounds of bullets. In self-defense, the police retaliated, resulting in a bullet injury to the leg of one of the miscreants. Facing intense pressure, the remaining two companions chose to surrender to the authorities rather than risk further confrontation. The injured suspect was promptly taken into custody and rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
