A transformative chapter has begun for the Parmat Primary School in Kanpur. Member of Parliament Ramesh Awasthi has initiated a project to renovate the school by installing modern classrooms and cutting-edge smart technology, funded entirely through his MP fund. The event was notably devoid of typical political VIP culture. Instead of claiming the role of chief guest for himself, Ramesh Awasthi chose to bestow that honour upon one of the school’s own students, Kumar Shivanshu.
Student Takes Center Stage
Breaking away from traditional protocols, young Kumar Shivanshu performed the formal duties of the ceremony, including the ground-breaking rituals, breaking the ceremonial coconut, and unveiling the foundation stone via remote control. Ramesh Awasthi further encouraged the student by gifting him a school bag and essential educational materials. Furthermore, the MP chose to sit among the parents and general public on the ground rather than occupying the designated VIP chairs on the stage, a gesture that drew significant praise from the gathered attendees.
Equipping Students with Private School Amenities
During the event, Ramesh Awasthi emphasized that education is not merely about constructing buildings but about building the foundation of the nation. He expressed his belief that if children in government schools are provided with the right technology and environment, they will be fully capable of competing with students from any elite private institution. The primary objective is to integrate government schools with digital infrastructure. He added that the introduction of smart classrooms would allow students to utilize computers, projectors, and digital learning modules, which will effectively enhance their comprehension and learning abilities.
Community and Academic Support
The school principal noted that Ramesh Awasthi has been consistently working toward the development of the school. Prior to this initiative, he had already provided school uniforms to the students, and now the focus has shifted to establishing smart classrooms. These modern facilities are expected to increase student attendance and make the overall learning experience more engaging. The ceremony also featured cultural performances by the students. Distinguished guests, including President’s Award recipient Dr. Girish Mishra, education department officials Sanjay Dubey, Rajan Lal, Angad Singh, Suresh Awasthi, and Devi Deen Verma, were among the many teachers, guardians, and local residents present for the occasion.
