A major announcement has been made for MBBS students pursuing their internships across government medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh. The state government has decided to substantially increase the monthly stipend for these interns, bringing much-needed financial relief to young medical practitioners who had been demanding a hike for a long time. This administrative decision ensures that the revised financial aid will be implemented uniformly across all government medical institutions throughout the state.
Significant Hike in MBBS Intern Stipend
Under the newly revised guidelines, medical interns will now receive 25,000 rupees every month instead of the previous amount of 12,000 rupees. This direct financial revision will benefit all eligible students currently completing their training in state-run medical facilities across Uttar Pradesh. By more than doubling the payout, the government aims to ease the financial pressures faced by medical trainees during a crucial phase of their education.
Free Bus Travel Scheme for Senior Women
During a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a total of 24 distinct proposals received formal approval, prominently featuring the newly minted ‘Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrishakti Yojana’. Under the framework of this welfare scheme, women aged 60 years or older will be entitled to lifelong free travel across all buses operated by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC). To successfully avail of this transit facility, passengers will simply need to present a valid Aadhaar card or voter ID card as proof of age and residency. Government estimates suggest that this initiative will directly benefit over one million women across the state. Rolled out ahead of the Raksha Bandhan festival, this measure is being widely hailed as a major welfare gift for women.
Ganga Expressway Extended Up to Haridwar
The cabinet also gave its formal assent to a proposal aimed at extending the Ganga Expressway all the way up to Haridwar, marking a significant push toward infrastructural enhancement. This extensive project is projected to cost approximately 10,761 crore rupees. The completion of this corridor will drastically improve connectivity for districts like Bijnor and Haridwar. Furthermore, it will establish a high-speed, seamless expressway link directly connecting Prayagraj and Haridwar, two prominent cities that host the revered Kumbh Mela.
Industrial and Logistics Cluster Planned in Sultanpur
In a major boost to regional industrial growth, the cabinet approved the development of an Integrated Manufacturing and Logistics Cluster (IMLC) near the Purvanchal Expressway in Sultanpur. This project will be executed under the broader Industrial Corridor Scheme, with an estimated implementation cost of 272.25 crore rupees. The establishment of this cluster is expected to upgrade local industrial facilities, strengthen linkages between manufacturing units and transport networks, and ultimately drive job creation and commercial expansion in Sultanpur and its adjoining areas.
