Two Wanted Suspects Arrested in Ghaziabad Tanishq Showroom Theft
The Ghaziabad police have achieved a major breakthrough in the high-profile theft case at the Tanishq showroom. A joint operation conducted by the SWAT, Surveillance, and Kavi Nagar police station teams led to the arrest of two absconding suspects. Both individuals carried a reward of 25,000 rupees each on their heads, which had been declared by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) following the sensational heist.
Melted Gold and Melting Equipment Recovered
According to official reports, the police recovered approximately 968.50 grams of yellow metal, which is suspected to be melted gold. Along with the precious metal, law enforcement officers seized tools used for melting gold, including a flame cylinder, a crucible, small tongs, and 5,000 rupees in cash. The arrest took place near a night shelter located on the Naya Ghaziabad Railway Station Road. Investigators revealed that the suspects were planning to board a train to escape to another city before the joint police team intercepted them.
Showroom Insider Masterminded the Heist
During interrogation, one of the arrested suspects, Chittaranjan alias Chintu, confessed to the crime and detailed the execution of the heist. He revealed that a close friend of his, who was working as an employee inside the Tanishq showroom, orchestrated the conspiracy. The employee first managed to steal the keys to the store. Using those keys, the gang entered the showroom early in the morning and stole jewelry worth millions. After executing the theft, the group sold some ornaments in the market and melted down the remaining gold to divide it among themselves.
