Political tensions have flared up in Uttar Pradesh as Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav finds himself targeted simultaneously by the Bharatiya Janata Party and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi launched severe criticisms against the former chief minister in separate public rallies. While Yogi Adityanath pointed fingers at the previous Samajwadi Party rule for encouraging rioters, Owaisi questioned the party's commitment toward genuine minority empowerment.
Yogi Adityanath's Sharp Verbal Attack in Bithoor
Addressing a massive gathering at Bithoor in Kanpur, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth ₹441 crore. Speaking at the revered site, he highlighted his administration's focus on preserving cultural heritage and religious infrastructure. He noted that the construction of the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the transformation of Kashi Vishwanath, and redevelopment efforts in Mathura, Vindhyachal, Naimisharanya, and Prayagraj demonstrate the state government's dedication to faith and development.
Shifting focus to electoral opponents, Yogi Adityanath termed both the Samajwadi Party and Congress anti-Hindu. He alleged that during the Samajwadi Party regime, frequent communal clashes rocked places like Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, and Mathura, while the administration turned a blind eye and later honored trouble-makers at the Chief Minister's residence. He asserted that peace now prevails across the state, adding that mock anti-riot drills are conducted regularly so law enforcement stays prepared. Referring to Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi, Yogi Adityanath accused them of favoring infiltrators over legitimate citizens for vote-bank politics.
Akhilesh Yadav's Counter-Attack and Voter List Fraud Claims
Responding to the allegations from Lucknow, Akhilesh Yadav hit back at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, questioning his definition of an infiltrator and pointing out the Chief Minister's origins in Uttarakhand. Furthermore, the Samajwadi Party leader held a detailed presentation alleging widespread voter list manipulation orchestrated by the ruling party in collusion with election machinery.
Citing an internal review conducted by his party, Akhilesh Yadav stated that duplicate entries were rampant. He provided specific instances, claiming that a record for Sunita, listed as the wife of Rajesh, showed 420 duplicate entries, with more than 2,300 voters sharing the exact name combination across the state. Similarly, 315 duplicate entries were identified under the name Rajkumari, wife of Rajkumar. He charged the authorities with attempting to dilute genuine voter strength through artificial entries.
The Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh swiftly addressed these allegations. The electoral body clarified that having multiple voters with similar names and family details across different locations is common in large populations and does not automatically prove electoral fraud. Following the official clarification, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reiterated that false allegations would not help the opposition regain power.
Asaduddin Owaisi Targets Samajwadi Party Over Minority Issues
Meanwhile, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi escalated his critique of Akhilesh Yadav during a public address in Muzaffarnagar. Reacting to Akhilesh Yadav's earlier remark in Rampur comparing him to Ravana, Owaisi brought up the Muzaffarnagar riots. He pointed out that despite having 47 Muslim lawmakers in the state assembly during that period, the Samajwadi Party government failed to protect the affected citizens while leadership engaged in cultural festivities at Saifai.
Owaisi stated that whenever leaders speak up for minority rights, the Samajwadi Party accuses them of acting as a proxy for the BJP. He declared that Muslim voters will no longer remain passive supporters meant only to secure electoral victories for a single family, emphasizing that the community demands direct political representation and leadership roles.
Alliance Friction and Demands from Regional Allies
Uttar Pradesh Minister OP Rajbhar voiced support for Owaisi's statements while organizing a major rally in Azamgarh. Rajbhar challenged Akhilesh Yadav to demonstrate genuine commitment to minorities by declaring a Muslim candidate for the Chief Minister's post in future elections.
In response to the debate over minority support, Congress MP Imran Masood stated that the Congress party remains fully capable of protecting minority interests without external intervention. Concurrently, Bhim Army founder and Azad Samaj Party chief Chandrashekhar Azad cautioned the Samajwadi Party regarding alliance dynamics. Azad insisted that defeating the ruling party requires equitable seat-sharing among all coalition partners, warning that any division of votes resulting from unfair distribution would rest entirely on the Samajwadi Party leadership.
