Significant disclosures have emerged following the arrest of suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed operative Hamim Mondal by the West Bengal Special Task Force (STF) in Purba Bardhaman district. apprehended two days ago, Mondal was maintaining active digital communication channels with foreign-based handlers. Official findings indicate that the suspect was operating as part of a structured network aimed at undermining national security and causing large-scale public disruption through coordinated illegal operations.
International Communication Channels and Foreign Handlers
The First Information Report (FIR) registered by the STF details that Mondal utilized six distinct social media profiles and WhatsApp numbers to communicate with his overseas orchestrators. Investigative analysis of his mobile devices revealed active phone numbers and digital accounts originating from Pakistan (+92), the United States (+1), the United Kingdom, and Mexico. Within Mondal's device, two Pakistani contacts were stored under the names 'Rana' and 'C9Uzair'. The American number (+1) was actively operated by an individual identified as Abid Jatt, while numbers associated with the UK and Mexico were logged under the name 'Hamid'. Additionally, authorities identified a specific X account being run directly out of Pakistan that Mondal used for encrypted communications.
Jantar Mantar Violence Link and Domestic Espionage Network
Investigative findings directly tie Mondal to a blueprint aimed at instigating violent disruptions during the CJP demonstration held at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. According to the official case documents, Mondal and his associates were working to build a operational espionage infrastructure inside India. The primary mandates assigned to this group included the radicalization and recruitment of local youth, illegal arms procurement, mapping critical government infrastructure, and monitoring the movements of high-profile political figures and VIPs.
Extortion Kidnapping Scheme and Targeted Assassination Plot
Expanding the scope of the crackdown, the STF arrested Mondal's alleged partner, Arpita Sarkar, from Jharkhand. The two had originally established contact on Instagram approximately four years ago and remained closely aligned. Evidence indicates the pair collaborated on a plan to kidnap the son of State Minister Umesh Rai to demand a substantial ransom. Further investigation unraveled a deeper plot where Sarkar was instructed to deploy a honey-trap mechanism to breach the office of West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. The objective of this breach was to facilitate a targeted assassination. This multi-layered conspiracy was reportedly driven under the direct instructions of Pakistan-linked terror handlers operating alongside the Shahzad Bhatti gang.
