A series of overnight missile strikes launched by Ukraine targeting Russia's Belgorod region has resulted in the deaths of six people, with four others sustaining injuries. The grim update was shared early on Monday by the region's acting governor, highlighting a severe escalation in cross-border hostilities.
Governor Details Casualties and Property Damage
Writing on Telegram, acting governor Alexander Shuvaev confirmed that a 14-year-old child was among those hurt in the bombardment. The injured child was promptly dispatched to a hospital for medical care, while two other individuals received medical assistance at the scene. Shuvaev noted that the latest wave of strikes set a building ablaze and ruined a car in the village of Koloskovo, located within the Valuysky district near the Ukrainian border.
Intensifying Air Raids Across the Border
This violent episode unfolded just a night after what officials termed the largest-scale offensive launched by Ukraine so far this year, an assault that claimed at least seven lives. Concurrently, retaliatory or parallel Russian bombardments on Ukraine on the exact same night also resulted in at least seven fatalities and left more than 39 people injured.
A Cycle of Reciprocal Accusations
In recent weeks, Moscow has significantly ramped up its missile campaigns across various Ukrainian territories. Simultaneously, Kyiv has intensified deep-strike drone operations targeting interior regions of Russia. As the conflict grinds on without relief, both warring sides continue to hurl mutual accusations, each insisting that the other is deliberately targeting civilian populations.
