Law enforcement authorities have taken decisive action in a high-profile case involving racial harassment against a young man hailing from the northeastern region. A video quickly spread across digital platforms showing a tribal youth from Tripura being publicly subjected to abusive behavior, where content creator Aamir Shaukin mockingly referred to him as the president of China. The surfacing of this footage sparked intense political outcry stretching from Delhi to the northeastern states. Ultimately, the long arm of the law caught up with the accused as officers moved in to make an arrest.
Tracking Down the Hiding Spot in Karol Bagh
The accused had been evading law enforcement and constantly shifting his physical whereabouts to avoid being cornered. Earlier in the day, electronic surveillance placed his active location within the Shahdara district, prompting a focused manhunt by local authorities. Utilizing advanced technical surveillance, officers from the Sadar Bazar police station successfully closed in on the suspect. Aamir Shaukin was eventually apprehended from the Karol Bagh neighborhood, where he had been lying low inside a relative's residence in an attempt to escape capture.
Criminal Charges and Previous Offenses
Following the uproar, an official case was registered against the content creator at the Sadar Bazar police station in the national capital. Police filed charges invoking sections 192, 196, 352, and 353 of the BNS. Investigators uncovered that the accused carries a troubled past, having multiple prior criminal cases registered against his name. His past record includes IPC section 323 for voluntarily causing hurt, section 324 for causing hurt using dangerous weapons, section 304 and section 504 for intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace, along with section 506 for criminal intimidation.
Government Officials and Political Leaders Demand Strict Action
The incident drew strong condemnation from senior government figures, prompting a public response. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju posted on X stating that this evil person will face punishment. Concurrently, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha issued direct directives to the state Director General of Police to coordinate closely with Delhi authorities and ensure immediate and stringent legal proceedings.
Political Backlash and Affiliation Claims
The episode quickly snowballed into a broader political controversy as parties exchanged sharp rhetoric regarding the background of the accused. The ruling party's regional chapter in Tripura asserted that the arrested individual maintains active ties with the opposition, launching their official statement with sharp criticism directed at the party. Political representatives demanded exemplary and rapid punishment for anyone involved in acts of racial discrimination and harassment against citizens from minority or regional backgrounds.
