Guwahati. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday officially inaugurated PepsiCo India's new food manufacturing facility situated at the AIDC Industrial Park in Banekuchi, Nalbari. Spanning 44.2 acres of greenfield land, the project entails an investment of Rs 778 crore and represents a major stride toward accelerating industrial growth and establishing Assam as a prominent manufacturing hub in the Northeast.

Empowering Women in the Workforce

A primary objective of the newly launched manufacturing unit is to maximize female participation in industrial employment. PepsiCo has established a firm target ensuring that women comprise at least 75 percent of the total workforce at the facility. Furthermore, the establishment of this plant is anticipated to foster comprehensive socio-economic development by generating ample job openings and catalysing the expansion of the surrounding industrial ecosystem.

Highlighting this milestone, the Chief Minister wrote on X that after laying the foundation stone in 2023, he returned to inaugurate the plant featuring a predominantly female workforce and robust backing for local agriculturists.
