Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has initiated four major urban development projects in Tinsukia backed by a funding of Rs 8 crore under the 15th Finance Commission. Alongside these infrastructural foundations, he also unveiled a specialized digital interface aimed at making municipal administration much more accessible for local residents.
The Launch of Samagra Seva App
The digital platform, named Samagra Seva, was officially rolled out during a dedicated programme hosted at Manab Kalyan Puja Bhawan on Wednesday. Developed at an expenditure of Rs 1.5 crore, this integrated civic services application seeks to restructure local governance and spare citizens from the hassle of making repeated trips to administrative offices.
Himanta Biswa Sarma noted that the software bridges municipal departments directly with personal smartphones. Through this application, residents can monitor waste collection vehicles in real time, clear property taxes, request trade permits, file for construction approvals, and utilize various other town administration services directly from their residences, significantly cutting down on public inconvenience.
Beautification and Park Development Projects
The quartet of foundation stones laid by the administration covers several recreational and civic spaces. This includes the development and beautification of Swahid Piyoli Phukan Playground located at Tamulbari with an estimated outlay of Rs 4.54 crore. Other initiatives feature the rejuvenation of Bor Godha Pukhuri at Sripuria, the beautification of Mahatma Gandhi Park along Gellapukhuri Road costing Rs 45.90 lakh, and comprehensive upgrades to Bishnu Rabha Park on AT Road valued at Rs 57.27 lakh.
Speaking before the gathered public, the Chief Minister affirmed that the state administration remains firmly dedicated to reinforcing urban infrastructure and fast-tracking progress in Tinsukia, recognizing it as a vital commercial hub holding rich historical value within the region.
Infrastructure Expansion and Future Proposals
Road connectivity and drainage enhancements formed central pillars of the administrative agenda outlined during the event. The Chief Minister announced a substantial allocation of Rs 200 crore specifically designated for road networks and drainage systems across the town.
Additionally, he formally authorized the construction of an integrated District Commissioner’s Office designed to consolidate disparate district government branches into a single centralized complex. To address cultural requirements, a grant of Rs 50 crore was sanctioned for establishing a modern auditorium with a seating capacity of 1,000. Further civic proposals encompass a new bus terminal, a multi-level parking structure, the renovation of Kachujan Stadium, modernization of the district library, and comprehensive street lighting deployment throughout the town.
