Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang officially inaugurated the newly renovated and vertically expanded Sikkim Guest House located in the Panjabari area of Guwahati on Wednesday. The modernization project is designed to offer enhanced lodging options and superior convenience for residents of Sikkim traveling to Assam for education, medical needs, administrative work, or personal travel.
Expanded Facilities and Enhanced Accommodation Options
The upgraded infrastructure significantly expands the capacity of the state facility in Guwahati. The guest house now features 20 well-appointed rooms, which include two specialized VIP suites intended for visiting dignitaries and official state guests. Additionally, the complex incorporates a separate quarter block containing five self-contained flat units alongside two spacious dormitories.
This comprehensive renovation addresses long-standing accommodation challenges faced by Sikkimese travellers in Assam's largest commercial hub. In particular, the expanded facilities are expected to function as a comforting home away from home for young scholars and university students from Sikkim who are pursuing higher education across various institutions in Guwahati.

Addressing attendees during the inaugural ceremony, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang urged all state officials, staff members, and visiting guests to take personal ownership of the public asset.
