German luxury automaker Audi has commenced local assembly operations for its third-generation New Gen Audi Q3 in India. The premium carmaker has set October 16 as the official rollout date for the upgraded luxury SUV. Ahead of the formal arrival, pre-bookings have officially opened across the country through authorised dealerships, the brand website, and its digital app for a token deposit of Rs 1 lakh. Replacing the outgoing generation, this SUV enters the entry-level premium segment to challenge rivals like the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and Mini Countryman.
Domestic assembly and booking arrangements
Production of the new generation Audi Q3 is currently underway at the Skoda Auto Volkswagen group manufacturing facility in India. Assembling the vehicle domestically is expected to grant the carmaker strategic cost advantages and keep pricing competitive in a crowded segment. Prospective buyers can reserve the model by depositing a booking amount of Rs 1 lakh through digital channels or physical showrooms. The brand will confirm the finalized ex-showroom pricing on October 16 during the commercial rollout.
Engine capabilities, powertrain and performance numbers
Under the hood, the SUV houses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine. This mechanical unit generates approximately 200 to 204 bhp of power alongside a peak torque output of 320 Nm. Gear shifting duties are managed by a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, while Audi's quattro all-wheel drive setup comes as standard equipment across the line. In terms of acceleration, the vehicle sprints from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.1 seconds and achieves a rated top speed of roughly 229 kmph.
Exterior redesign and cabin appointments
The latest iteration features increased overall dimensions over its predecessor, improving road presence and interior packaging. Exterior highlights include sharp split headlamps, an oversized singleframe grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, a rear LED light bar, and an illuminated Audi emblem. Cargo hauling is addressed by a 488-litre boot space.
Inside the cabin, occupants receive a curved dual-screen dashboard arrangement, a four-spoke steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, and a multi-zone climate control system. Modern cabin tech and driver aids include a 360-degree camera, wireless smartphone charging, and a Level-2 ADAS suite.
Expected price range and competitor landscape
Pricing for the luxury SUV is estimated between Rs 55 lakh and Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom), representing a slight increase over the preceding Audi Q3 lineup. In the entry-level luxury space, it directly rivals competitors such as the BMW X1, Mercedes GLA, and Mini Countryman. Looking ahead, Audi also plans to expand its wider domestic portfolio with future introductions of the A5 and Q9 models.
