A special financial assistance initiative brought substantial festive cheer to 51 newly married women in Delhi on the occasion of Karwa Chauth. Celebrating their first traditional fast after marriage, each bride received a financial grant of Rs 1 lakh to support their transition into domestic and economic stability. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presided over the distribution ceremony at the Chief Minister Jan Seva Sadan, handing over individual cheques amounting to a total disbursement of Rs 51 lakh while extending blessings for a prosperous marital journey.
Beneficiaries Wedded Through Ladli Foundation Initiative
All 51 recipients had tied the knot earlier this year in March through a mass wedding initiative organised by the Ladli Foundation. Recognizing the emotional and cultural significance of their very first Karwa Chauth festival, the event was organised under the leadership of Devendra Kumar, founder of the Ladli Foundation, to provide timely monetary backing. Commending the foundation's persistent grassroots work, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta lauded the initiative for lightening the financial pressures on lower-income households during key cultural milestones and strengthening family welfare.
Government Pledges Loan Access for Women Entrepreneurs
Beyond immediate festive assistance, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta urged the young brides to pursue financial independence and consider enterprise opportunities. She stated that credit facilities and government loans are accessible for women eager to establish their own livelihoods, whether that involves launching a local shop, setting up a street vending trade, operating a beauty parlour, or acquiring sewing machines for tailoring work.
Assuring the gathering of comprehensive administrative backing, the Chief Minister pledged that the government remains fully prepared to assist them at every turn. She added that while she hopes none of them ever face adversity, should any hardship arise, they can rely on her constant presence and support like that of an elder sister.
