A horrifying incident has come to light from the Motipur police station area of Muzaffarpur district, where a youth, allegedly consumed by one-sided love, launched a life-threatening knife attack on a young woman. The victim, who is diligently preparing for the Bihar Police constable recruitment exams, was targeted near her home. The brutal assault has triggered widespread fear and anxiety among the local residents. Following the attack, the severely injured woman was rushed to the Motipur Community Health Center (CHC), where she is currently undergoing medical treatment.
Background of the Harassment
According to the details emerging from the investigation, the 22-year-old victim, a resident of Premnagar Kodarkatta village under the Motipur police station limits, followed a daily routine of going out for runs as part of her physical preparation for the police recruitment trials. A youth from her own village, identified as Ravi Kumar, had allegedly been stalking and harassing her for a considerable period. He had been mounting unreasonable pressure on her to talk to him, a demand that the young woman consistently rejected.
Confrontation on the Street
The situation escalated dramatically on Tuesday morning when the woman was returning home after completing her daily run. The accused, Ravi Kumar, intercepted her on her way back and began misbehaving and molesting her. When the woman strongly protested his actions, the accused turned violent. He allegedly threatened her with sexual assault, physically assaulted her, and hurled verbal abuses. Although the woman managed to break free from his grasp and run to the safety of her house, the obsessed attacker refused to back down and pursued her all the way to her residence.
Forced Entry and Stabbing
Upon reaching her house, the stalker entered the premises and continued his aggressive behavior, shouting abuses and creating a scene. In a sudden fit of rage, he drew a sharp, edged knife that he was carrying and slashed at the young woman. The weapon struck her directly on her head, causing deep lacerations and severe bleeding. Hearing her desperate screams for help, neighbors and villagers rushed to the spot. Sensing trouble as the crowd gathered, the accused, Ravi Kumar, fled the scene before he could be apprehended.
Hospitalization and Police Actions
The local residents immediately shifted the bleeding victim to the Motipur CHC for urgent medical intervention. After receiving preliminary care, the victim submitted a formal written complaint against the accused at the Motipur police station. Taking swift note of the gravity of the offense, the local police have initiated an active investigation into the matter. Law enforcement teams are conducting regular raids at various suspected hideouts to locate and arrest the fleeing suspect. Notably, Muzaffarpur has witnessed several major criminal cases recently. Earlier, the police solved the murder of a business couple who had been missing for three months, where the victim's younger brother turned out to be the killer.
Statement from the Police Authorities
Elaborating on the legal proceedings, SDPO Western Suchitra Kumari stated that the accused, Ravi Kumar, initially attempted to molest the victim. When she resisted his advances, he physically assaulted her on the road. The official further explained that the accused subsequently followed her to her residence, where he again assaulted her and stabbed her in the head with a sharp knife. Based on the formal complaint submitted by the victim, an FIR has been registered, and active search operations are underway to put the accused behind bars.
