Criminals targeted a place of worship in the Kaimur district of Bihar during the dead of night, executing a major burglary that bypassed local security and patrolling. Unidentified intruders broke open the locks of a prominent Durga temple situated in ward number 24 of Bhabhua to steal sacred gold jewellery. The brazen theft has triggered widespread outrage and resentment among local devotees and community members across the municipal area.
Houses Tied from Outside During Nighttime Raid
The incident took place between 2:30 am and 3:30 am in the southern neighbourhood located within ward number 24 under the Bhabhua municipal council. The perpetrators executed a pre-planned strategy to prevent any interruption from local residents. Before tampering with the shrine, the intruders used ropes to tie shut the entrance doors of neighbouring homes from the exterior. This deliberate tactic ensured that surrounding families could not step out or raise an alarm while the break-in was underway at the temple gates.
Crown, Necklace and Traditional Ornaments Stolen
After forcing their way through the temple entrance, the culprits targeted the sanctum and stripped the idol of its sacred ornaments. Among the five valuable items stolen were a gold necklace, a nose ring, a mangtika, earrings, and a ceremonial crown. Based on prevailing market valuations, the stolen jewellery is estimated to be worth between 10 and 15 lakh rupees. The crime came to light early in the morning when neighbours discovered their doors tied shut and witnessed the broken locks at the shrine.
Civic Councillor Points to Illegal Narcotics Trade
Local councillor Parmanand Kesari arrived at the site following the incident and voiced strong frustration over law enforcement lapses. Kesari pointed out that unlawful activities, particularly the illicit trade of substances such as ganja, alcohol, and heroin, have surged dramatically in the locality. According to him, the unchecked spread of drug peddling has created a breeding ground for criminals, directly contributing to recurrent unlawful incidents.
Kesari stated that formal written representations had been submitted repeatedly to the local administration and police regarding the rise of antisocial elements, yet no effective preventive measures were taken. Demanding swift intervention, the councillor and neighbourhood residents have called on the police department to initiate a thorough and impartial investigation, track down the culprits immediately, and take stringent punitive action against drug syndicates operating in the sector.
