The main connecting road between Madhuban Nagar Panchayat and the district headquarters in Mau district has turned into a major hazard for local residents and daily commuters. Having received no repair work for years, the dilapidated stretch has become exceedingly dangerous during the ongoing monsoon season. Accumulation of water in potholes measuring up to two feet deep has resulted in frequent accidents. Despite repeated complaints lodged with elected representatives and administrative officials, the condition of the road remains completely ignored.
Waterlogged Potholes Present Fatal Risks During Monsoon
The arrival of the rainy season has severely compounded the problems on this vital thoroughfare. According to local resident Jitendra Yadav, the road has not undergone a single round of repair work since its original construction. Due to complete lack of maintenance, the upper asphalt layer has completely eroded, leaving behind massive craters along the roadway. Rainwater currently fills these deep potholes, concealing their true depth and catching commuters unaware.
Jitendra Yadav pointed out that people riding two-wheelers and pedestrians regularly slip and fall into these submerged potholes, sustaining injuries. Navigating this road has become a daily gamble with safety. Residents emphasize that while this structural breakdown has persisted for several years, relevant authorities and government bodies continue to display utter negligence toward the issue, failing to initiate any concrete road restoration project.
Commute Burdened on Dilapidated One-Kilometer Stretch
Serving as the primary arterial link between Madhuban Nagar Panchayat and the Mau district headquarters, the road witnesses the movement of thousands of commuters every day. Local resident Jitendra Maurya explained that because it is a key connecting route, people have no choice but to use this damaged passage. However, traveling across this approximate one-kilometer stretch has become extraordinarily difficult and treacherous for all road users.
Water accumulation ranging from one to two feet deep is visible at multiple points along the road. Jitendra Maurya highlighted that ever since the road first cracked and broke apart years ago, no maintenance drive was ever launched by the concerned departments. Consequently, accidents occur almost daily, with two-wheeler riders bearing the brunt of the hazard. Despite multiple appeals addressed to public representatives, no remedial action has materialized, leaving thousands of commuters stranded with daily hardship.
School Children Face Daily Injury Risks
The hazardous condition of the road has severely affected young schoolchildren and added to the anxieties of local parents. Resident Shailendra Kumar shared that school students frequently lose their footing, slip, and suffer injuries while negotiating the waterlogged potholes on their way to and from educational institutions.
Owing to the continuous threat of accidents, family members are now forced to personally escort their young children to school and bring them back home every day. Shailendra Kumar noted that a timely repair drive would restore proper connectivity and eliminate the safety risks faced by the public. Residents have collectively reiterated their demand to the local administration for immediate repair and reconstruction of this key road to ensure safe and hassle-free transit for all.
