Past Tenures and Legislative Trajectory of Awadhesh Narain Singh
According to Shiv Gopal Mishra, Secretary of the Legislative Council Secretariat, Awadhesh Narain Singh assumed the office of Chairman in June 2024. He had succeeded JD(U) leader Devesh Chandra Thakur, who resigned from the chair after securing election to the Lok Sabha from the Sitamarhi constituency.
A former state minister, Awadhesh Narain Singh has represented the Gaya Graduates constituency in the Legislative Council across multiple terms. His leadership in the upper house spans over a decade. He was first elected Council Chairman in 2012 and served until 2017. He returned to the helm in 2020, serving for two years before stepping down when JD(U) exited the NDA alliance and Devesh Chandra Thakur took over.

Awadhesh Narain Singh has maintained a close working relationship with Nitish Kumar, who had stepped down from the Chief Minister's post earlier this year to make way for the BJP's Samrat Choudhary.
