RJD MLA's Relative Shot Dead by Bike-Borne Assailants in Madhepura

A young man heading to BN Mandal University was shot and killed by motorcycle-borne criminals in Madhepura, Bihar. The victim, Prince Ranjan, was a cousin of RJD MLA Chandrasekhar.

A brutal daylight shooting in Madhepura, Bihar, has left a young man dead after he was attacked by motorcycle-riding assailants. The victim has been identified as Prince Ranjan, the son of Sunil Yadav from Ward 7 of Inarwa village under the Ghelaad police station limits. The incident took place on Friday morning when he was riding his motorcycle toward the BN Mandal University. According to details, Prince Ranjan had left his residence at around 12 PM on Friday on his Pulsar bike heading to the university. As he reached west of the canal near the Godhiyari chimney, unidentified attackers on a bike intercepted him and shot him directly in the back.

Resistance to Mobile Phone Snatching Led to Murder

Following the killing, RJD MLA Chandrasekhar voiced strong criticism against the local police administration regarding the rising crime rates in the district. Confirming that the victim was a close relative, the legislator explained that the criminals had attempted to snatch a motorcycle and mobile phones from two young men. When Prince Ranjan resisted handing over his mobile phone, the armed assailants opened fire on him. He remarked that under such lawless conditions, anyone could easily become a target of criminals, making it imperative for authorities to take serious measures to safeguard public safety and property.

The MLA further highlighted that no isolated road in the district remains safe anymore. He pointed out that the very road where the murder occurred has witnessed 12 to 14 incidents of mobile and motorcycle snatching over the past six months alone. According to his assessment, such criminal acts are taking place on that particular stretch almost every single day.

Demands for Swift Identification and Arrest of Killers

Questioning the government's claims of effective governance and law enforcement, the RJD legislator asserted that mere verbal claims cannot guarantee citizen safety. He insisted that the police and administration must translate talk into ground-level action to curb criminality. The MLA has demanded that the perpetrators involved in the murder of Prince Ranjan be identified and apprehended without delay.

Furthermore, he called for the case to be processed through a speedy trial to ensure the guilty receive the strictest possible punishment. Such decisive action against lawbreakers is necessary to deter similar tragedies in the future, he added. He emphasized that if the government is genuinely concerned about protecting ordinary lives, regular police pickets must be established at such vulnerable and sensitive locations.

Police Investigation and Ongoing Raids

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies have launched a thorough probe into the incident. Sadar SDPO Ajay Kumar stated that upon receiving information about the crime, police teams immediately rushed to the scene and initiated an investigation. The victim's body was handed over to his grieving family members after completing the mandatory post-mortem examination.

Authorities noted that while the exact motive behind the murder remains unclear at this stage, police have commenced intense raids across various locations to track down and arrest the culprits.

I traveled down that exact stretch in Madhepura a few months ago, where isolated roads are notorious for frequent snatching. Thinking about what happened to Prince sends shivers down my spine, realizing how cheaply someone's life is taken over a phone or a bike.

Spot on, Ravikash. Such rampant looting on isolated roads in Bihar and police inaction clearly highlight a complete breakdown of governance.

Twelve to fourteen snatching cases on the exact same road in six months shows utter police failure.

Rohan, you are spot on. I personally got stuck on that exact isolated stretch in Madhepura once during ground reporting, where daylight muggings are routine while the police just sleep.
