A disturbing incident has shaken Akbarpur village under the Barabar police station jurisdiction in Bihar's Jehanabad district, where two married residents died by hanging inside their respective homes under mysterious circumstances. The deceased have been identified as 23-year-old auto-rickshaw driver Dukhan Choudhary and Ritu Kumari, a mother of two young children. Before the grieving families could complete the last rites at the cremation ground, police received word of the twin deaths, rushed to intercept the funeral parties, and took custody of both bodies for legal proceedings.
Discovery of the young driver's death
Dukhan Choudhary had been married only a few months ago and was the father of an infant girl. Relatives stated that on Monday evening, he returned home from work as usual after driving his auto-rickshaw through his routine routes. He shared dinner with family members and retired to his room without exhibiting any signs of distress, dispute, or emotional disturbance.
Concern grew early the following morning when his bedroom door stayed bolted from the inside well past the usual hour. Upon peeking inside, family members were horrified to discover him hanging from a noose. His kin mentioned that he appeared entirely calm the night before, leaving them completely baffled as to why he would choose to end his life so abruptly.
Woman ends life shortly after driver's death became known
As grief and shock engulfed the neighbourhood following the discovery of Dukhan's body, tragedy struck a second residence in the very same locality. Ritu Kumari, who lived nearby, ended her life inside her own room by hanging from a ceiling fan hook. Her husband works in the private sector in Himachal Pradesh, leaving Ritu to live at home in the village alongside their two children.
When Ritu also failed to answer her door on Tuesday morning, worried family members gained entry into the house via the rooftop. Inside, they found her body suspended from the ceiling. The loss of two neighbours in virtually identical manners within a narrow span of hours immediately triggered intense commotion and speculation across Akbarpur.
Police halt hasty funeral, initiate forensic and call log review
Amid panic and confusion, both households prepared to conduct hurried cremations and began moving the mortal remains toward the burning ghats. However, timely intervention by the Barabar police team prevented the immediate burning of the bodies, which were taken into custody and transported to the Sadar Hospital for a mandatory post-mortem examination.
While the respective families have denied any domestic conflicts or strained relations, local villagers suspect an underlying romantic involvement between the two deceased individuals. Investigating officers from the Barabar police station noted that conclusive reasons behind the dual suicides will only emerge once the forensic autopsy findings and mobile phone call detail records are thoroughly examined.
