Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi was admitted to AIIMS in Delhi on Sunday evening after he complained of breathing difficulty and high fever. He was first brought to the emergency department around 5 pm, and after his condition failed to improve he was shifted to the ICU by around 9 pm the same night.
Doctors monitoring his condition
According to hospital sources, a team of doctors is keeping a close watch on Manjhi and running the necessary medical tests to determine what is wrong. Sources also indicated that he could be suffering from dengue, though AIIMS has not issued any official statement on his health so far.
A pattern of worsening health
This is not the first time concerns have been raised over Manjhi's health in recent days. On August 31, he was admitted to Medanta hospital after his condition deteriorated. Then on September 3, shortly after being discharged in Patna, his health worsened again, and he was rushed to Delhi with his family, reportedly leaving Patna in a wheelchair. With his health repeatedly declining, he has now been admitted to AIIMS once more.
What happens next
Manjhi currently remains in the ICU under medical observation while test results are awaited. Investigations into a possible dengue infection are ongoing, though nothing has been confirmed yet. His family and supporters are hoping for his quick recovery.
