Actress Celina Jaitly's 15 year long marriage is coming to an end. Her husband Peter Haag, with whom she shares three children, has filed for divorce in his home country, Austria. In a recent interview, the actress, known for her role in 'No Entry', opened up about how her marriage fell apart and offered women some pointed advice about protecting themselves before tying the knot.
A divorce notice instead of an anniversary gift
Celina revealed that she was getting ready to celebrate her 15th wedding anniversary when, on that very day, Peter Haag handed her what she called a gift that turned her entire world upside down, a divorce notice. According to the actress, the most painful part of the episode was that the notice was actually read out to her by her own twin sons. When the papers first landed in her hands, she assumed they were simply routine government documents related to residency or citizenship in Austria, only to later discover the truth.
Accusations over property, money and access to her children
This is not the first time Celina has spoken publicly about her ordeal. She has repeatedly used social media in the past to describe how her ex-husband gradually transferred all her property and money into his own name. She has also alleged that she is being denied access to her own children. The actress further claimed that once the divorce notice was sent, Peter Haag began subjecting her to emotional torment. At this stage in her life, she says, she feels completely alone, stripped of both her finances and the freedom to see her children.
Her advice, sign a prenup and keep finances separate
Drawing directly from her own experience, Celina cautioned women against making marriage decisions purely on emotion. She believes that any woman who owns property should insist on a prenuptial agreement before marriage. Beyond that, she says even after the wedding, women should continue to hold their property and money separately in their own name. In her own words, "I would suggest women sign a prenup before marriage. If they have their own property, they should definitely get a prenup done before marriage, and after marriage they should keep their property and their money separate, because at the end of the day everything comes down to money."
When love's promises break, only property and law remain
Celina pointed out that marriages are often wrapped in beautiful ideas, love, vows made across seven lifetimes, children, and promises to stand by each other for life. But when those very promises collapse under a harsh reality, the fallout is never confined to emotions alone, it spills straight into property disputes and courtrooms. According to her, everything eventually boils down to money, and love or emotion count for nothing at that point. The actress added that her biggest regret in life is that her feelings and her sacrifices were never valued by anyone. She directly accused her ex-husband of having transferred all her money into his own name over time. For an actress who has often spoken candidly about love and companionship, admitting that a fifteen year marriage ultimately came down to money and legal paperwork is clearly a bitter realization for her.
