Prominent film industry personalities arrived at the renowned North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja pandal on Saturday to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Maha Shasthi. Veteran actor Jaya Bachchan visited the venue accompanied by her daughter Shweta Bachchan to offer prayers before Goddess Durga. Actor Kajol was present alongside her children, Nysa and Yug, to seek divine blessings. A heartwarming interaction between Jaya Bachchan and Kajol during the festivities quickly became one of the main highlights of the gathering.
Heartwarming Greetings Between Jaya Bachchan and Kajol
Visuals from the celebrations showed Jaya Bachchan arriving in an elegant off-white saree, accompanied by Shweta Bachchan in traditional festive attire. Upon entering the pandal, Jaya was greeted with immense affection by Kajol and her sister Tanishaa Mukerji. The veteran actor embraced both sisters warmly and spent time interacting with members of the host family. Later, Jaya Bachchan joined Kajol, her cousin and filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, and several other relatives for commemorative group photographs near the deity.
Kajol Celebrates Shasthi with Children Nysa and Yug
Throughout the day, Kajol remained actively involved in managing the pandal's welcoming traditions and welcoming guests. She posed in front of the grand idol of Goddess Durga with Nysa and Yug. A tender moment between Kajol and her son caught the attention of onlookers and photographers alike. Kajol chose a vibrant mustard-yellow saree with subtle orange undertones and an intricate zari border, accessorised with a striped golden blouse and classic gold jhumkas. Complementing the ethnic palette, Nysa wore a refined powder-blue silk saree, while Yug opted for a soft blue and white kurta-pyjama.
Absence of Rani Mukerji During the Celebrations
The North Bombay Durga Puja pandal, traditionally organised by the Mukerji family, consistently attracts notable film stars and long-standing family friends, including Jaya Bachchan. Actor Rani Mukerji, who is Kajol's cousin, is customarily seen playing an active role in hosting guests and managing the rituals every year. However, following the passing of her mother Krishna Mukerji in September, Rani was absent from the initial stages of the family's annual celebrations.
Tanishaa Mukerji's Pre-Festival Request to Photographers
Days prior to the commencement of the festivities, Tanishaa Mukerji spoke to reporters during a press conference in Mumbai, requesting attendees and paparazzi to uphold decorum inside the sacred space. In a light-hearted yet firm remark directed at the media, Tanishaa urged photographers not to harass Jaya Bachchan. She cautioned the camera crew against deliberately provoking senior personalities, emphasising that everyone should maintain respect and tranquility throughout the duration of the devotional rituals.
